What's the scoop on late February?

Suprisingly, we already got our daughter's school schedule for the '08 -'09 school year. She's got midwinter break from February 18-20.

We were thinking of going that week (the week of the 16th), that way we'd have the weekends before and after for a nine day stretch total. She'd only have to miss two days then.:thumbsup2

What are the crowds and weather like in February? Are there usually any deals?

I know I can book the room now, but I have to wait on packages until they're released in August. Can I still make ADR's without the DDP in place, or do I have to wait until I book the packages?

TIA for your answers. The DIS makes life easier. :goodvibes :hippie: true

Hi,

Anyone can make ADRs 180 days in advance. You do not have to have a room or package booked.

Not only does your daughter have that week off, but unfortunately so does much of the country. President's Day week is one of the five or six busiest weeks of the year at WDW.

February weather in Orlando is completely unpredictable. You could have warm days (80s) with cool nights and mornings. Or you could have mornings near freezing with afternoons in the 40s or 50s. Or you could have a little of both, or something in between. My advice is to pack a little of everything, including swimsuits, hats, and gloves!

It hadn't even occured to me that President's day was that week. Schools where I live have different winter breaks depending on the district ~ anywhere from mid January til mid March. Your information is vital, and I really appreciate it.:worship:

Coming from Michigan, I don't mind dealing with a little inclement weather. (I deal a lot better with cold than heat, as do my hubby and daughter!) The problems will be the crowd size and how much packing we'll have to do.

At least we're driving so we won't have to pay now to check all of the bags we'll need!

Thanks again, Bob. You cleared up a lot for us. :hippie: true
