What's the problem?

I just called and booked 1900 park fare for dinner during our trip in May. The CM was very rude to me about it. I stated it was just 2 adults for the dinner. He asked me what the ages of the children are that will be accompanying us. Again, I stated there were no children attending. He the proceeds to raise his voice at me and says I asked what the ages of the children are for the dinner! I politely said must I have children to attend? He said that this was simply inappopriate for 2 adults to want to have dinner with Cinderella and to think of the children who won't be able to go now that we have chosen to attend. I said that I am sorry he feels that way but us big princesses and princes deserve to have dinner with Cinderella too. He gave me the confirmation number and abruptly hung up on me.

Um, what is the problem? Is it really not okay to attend this dinner without children? I'm really having second thoughts now on going to any of the character meals I booked without children. :confused3 I thought everyone big or small could be a child at WDW! Thoughts?

Put this incident behind you, and go and enjoy your character meals. :)

The CM should never have treated you that way!

No way! I would have immediately asked for a supervisor - matter of fact, I'd call back and ask for one. The CMs name is recorded each time they do something for you so they would know who it was if you didn't.

Do NOT have 2nd thoughts; we have no children and LOVE character meals. Everyone is entitled to be a kid at Disney World.

Don't worry about it. That CM was really rude to you. Go and have a good time. Besides, only 2 of you are going, so really you could only be crushing the dreams to of 1 kid  .

The CM was way out of line. We are all princes and princesses forever at WDW!

Don't worry about it! DBF and I always go to character meals-without kids! We did 1900 Park Fare for dinner last year and had a great time! You do the same and don't let that nasty CM get to you. :)

BF and I go to Park FAre every trip and love it! We do Chef Mickey's too! We even did CRT in Dec for my birthday and plan on going to Crystal Palace during our Aug trip.

Wow, that's just incredible. My DH & I do not have children, yet we do character meals and love them! In fact, we contemplated doing 1900 Park Fare...
Just unbelievable. Do you have the CM's name? I would call them back, ask for a supervisor and them him or her know what happened. Give them the confirmation number you have, etc...because if you don't have the CM's name, hopefully the confirmation # will be tied to that specific person and they can deal with it.

Some people should simply not be allowed to work for Disney.

Over the past few years we have been to several character meals both with and without children and have never had a CM respond in a negative manner when I tell him/her that the party consists of 2 adults and 0 children.

That was totally rude and unacceptable behavior! Don't let one whacko make you feel uncomfortable at character meals. We enjoyed them before we had DD, and we enjoy them now with DD. We also enjoy seeing all the folks around us, whether or not they have kids, having a great time. WDW is for everyone!

I think you should call back to report him. The behavior was totally inappropriate!

i totally agree! please call back and report this big meany!

DO NOT cancel your ressie, you have every right to have dinner there with or w/o kids! enjoy your trip!

Thank you all for your responses! I guess that I was just caught off guard about it and didn't really know what think about the whole situation. I did call back and spoke to a supervisor and the CMs name was attached to the confirmation. The supervisor apologized for the situation and it certainly made me feel better about the whole thing. :thanks:

Wow! Not a very smart CM. I guess they don't value their job! :confused3
Enjoy your time at your Character meal, and don't give that rude jerk another thought! :goodvibes

Glad you did this and got a positive response. :thumbsup2 Maybe he was just having a bad day, but, still, behavior like that is unacceptable.

We've booked character meals for two adults, no children for four years now without any comments like that. In fact, that's the first time I've ever heard of a Disney Dining CM saying something like that.

Go enjoy your meal! :sunny:

Wow! Wonder what bug crawled into his undershorts? :confused3 That was incredibly rude. I hardly think that Disney would care if two 80 year olds wanted to dine "childless" with Cindy... so why should he care if there are kids or not!? Go enjoy your dinner!

wow, i am so sorry this happened to you. i guess it doesn't click with that CM where their paycheck comes from (us). the comment was totally uncalled for. let it roll off your shoulders and have a wonderful trip. just remember that you will be in the World and in the World we are all just kids ourselves. pirate: :moped: :clown: have fun!!!
p.s. you did the right thing for calling back and speaking to a supervisor. that behavior should have never been no matter what company it is with. you are a paying customer. :p

:thumbsup2 Yay! I'm glad you reported him and hopefully he'll be told to stop with the "unmagical" attitude.

Remember what comes around, goes around.. he will get his one day. I booked CRT for just DH and myself for our anniversary trip in Sept, the CM giggled at me when I asked for it... but I got it and DH was just as excited about it as I was. :sunny:
