What's the policy on....

Hello everyone,

I was wondering what the policy is for Disney about bringing in medical supplies to the parks. Has anyone else had to do this?

I have brought medication in before with no difficulties but now I am going to be bringing in more than just bottles of my pills.

Has anyone had any difficulties during the bag searches? I mean, are they going to look askance when they see catheters, packets of lubricant, tape, gauze, etc.. etc.. etc.. ? Can I bring in scissors to cut the gauze with? the tape?

I am sorry if this has been asked before, I checked but didn't see it anywhere.

With all the security issues and bag searches I want to know what it is okay to bring into the park and what isn't. What I might need a note for (from a doctor as medical necessity), plan for or otherwise try to work with to get everything I might need into the park with me.

you're hardly the only one taking in these types of supplies. Most of the times they don't even look at those in my bag (caths are at the bottom as that keeps them in shape best, can't see them when checking a bag without actually moving stuff).

They don't care about anything, just check for things like weapons etc. As long as those aren't in the bag; who cares what is? Never had any trouble at all, incl. with siccors allthough I always take a small travelling one.


With regards to all the supplies you mentioned; have you looked at ready-to-go-caths? With those you have a lot less supplies to drag along. No need for lube etc. etc. etc. I use them all the time, only thing I carry with me is a caths, one gauze per cath and one or 2 plasters a day for just in case and that's it. I know they aren't always covered in each country and can be a bit more expensive but for a trip they could be worth the convenience. (and if you are thinking about them; try it at home first to see which type and brand fits the personal needs best, as always)

As the prior poster said, they are looking for specific things in the bag check, basically weapons, glass bottles and alcoholic beverages for the most part. I dont think the scissors will be any problem, but if you are worried about the scissor, could you bring a blunt tip scissors?

Also, in case you were not aware, I wanted to make sure you knew that you can store medical equipment in First Aid and they will provide a room where you can do procures privately. They also have a Companion Restroom in First Aid.

No need to worry. My daughter is trached. We have taken in a suction machine, monitors, and a large kit with all of her emergency supplies, such at catheters, scissors, lube.....

I have never even been asked by a CM what anything is or what it is for. Don't worry about it and have a great trip!!!

We carry needles, lancets, insulin, etc into the park with us and have never once been given a problem. I usually just tell the person doing the bag check that my daughter is T1 diabetic and they just wave us through. I think if you are worried about it, you could always just bring a copy of the prescription for backup.

This is wonderful to know! My dad has tons he packs and it would be too much to drag though the park!

We have had to bring scissors with no trouble. In fact I keep most of the tape and otehr stuff like that in a plastic pencil box and I just pop it open and they never said a word about it. I guess taht they know what they are for when they see all the other stuff. I also want to second the idea of dropping things off at the Fist Aid station and using the private rooms there when needed. It is much more private then doing medical stuff else where in the part and much more cleaner ( IMHO) then using the rest rooms to do it.

Do they allow you access to a refridgerator in the First Aid station? Just curious. I can always bring ice packs, which I would probably do anyway, but just curious.
