Warning this is a little confusing

The other day I booked 4 nights at AKV (home resort) and 2 nights at SSR (home resort). My intention is not to have a split stay but booked this way so that I would at least have a reservation for the first week of December. I had to do it split because of borrowing points.

Anyway, my family wants to wait list for BCV'S or BWV's because we are realistic that there will be no 2 bedroom availability. So to make things easy should I just cancel my AKV and SSR reservation to make it easier when I go to book one of the 2 that I'm going to end up wait listing?

In the event that I can't get either BCV'S or BWV's my back up is going to be SSR OR AKV. We praying and keeping my fingers crossed we can get into somewhere and don't have to stay at SSR again. I need a break after staying there the past 3 trips.

I would certainly NOT cancel the current reservations. If your waitlist does not come through, you would not have any reservations.

Since you have two reservations and are looking to waitlist two resorts, you will need to make some decisions (assuming the SSR and AKV are under the same membership). You can only have two waitists active at a time. So you can waitlist for BC AND BWV to replace your SSR stay; OR waitlist either BC OR BWV for both the SSR and AKV stays. Once a waitlist comes through, any other waitlists against that same revervation are cancelled. So if you waitlist for BC and BWV for your SSR stay and one comes through, the other waitlist will cancel. However, if you have waitlist against each reservation (SSR and AKV), f one waitlist comes through the other will stay active. Lastly, once a waitlist comes through, you get the chance to make another waitlist since you no longer have two active waitlists.

So you need to decide if it is more important to not be in SSR (in which case you would probably waitlist for BC and AKV for your SSR stay) or if you would rather try to get in one resort for the entire stay. (waitlist for BC or BWV for both stays).

I would think it is more likely to get a shorter (days) waitlist at two resorts. So if it was me, I would waitlist BC and BWV for the SSR stay. To make chanced better, choice garden/pool room at BWV. There are more inventory in that category.

Note: IF these contracts are under two seperate membership numbers, you would get two waitlist per membership number, but I doubt that is your case.

If I understand you correctly, you made the reservations at two resorts because that is how your points are. Once you hit the 7 month mark, try booking one of the two you really want and if not available, hopefully you can book the entire stay at either SSR or AKV. Then as PP stated, waitlist both BWV and BCV for the stay.

Good Luck. We've gone for last 5 years in December and the parks are just great.

Thanks for the opinions. Yes I spilt the stay bc that's how my points are. I decided to cancel the AKV and SSR reservations bc I thought it would just be less of a hassle. I really don't think that I will have a problem getting a room at either SSR or AKV's at the 7m mark so that's why I ultimately cancelled. We haven't been in December for years. The last time we were there we were in parkas, gloves, and hats and I said. Wouldn't go back at that time. Well all for the love of Disney we are going back for the Christmas decorations. Wish me luck!

I wouldn't risk it and would rebook the split stay. The first two weeks of December are the busiest time at WDW DVC properties. Better to have a split stay booked than get shut out completely, IMO.

At the very least I would book the AKV nights. Then you could add to them at the 7-month mark and wailist your other choices, if necessary. Bottom line, book as much as you can now.

Thanks. I think for this one time I am going to roll the dice and risk it. If we get shut out I haven't lost anything bc we haven't bought our plane tickets yet. If I have to wait list it is what it is and lesson learned.

I would change at the 7 month window for all days at one or the other of your home resorts. The following advice assumes you'd rather not have a split stay at all. IF a split stay with part at BCV or BWV is your preference over all at AKV or SSR, my advice would be different. I'd wait list for BWV preferred and for a BCV lockoff since you can only have 2 wait lists. These are the 2 largest and lowest demand 2 BR across those 2 resorts. IF you're WL comes through, you can always wait list for better categories secondarily.

That's what I was planning on doing Dean. I will have a reservation at AKV or SSR. I just didn't want to have any hang ups just in case there was something available at the BWV or BCV'S when I try and make my reservation online. A split stay is something I definitely don't want.

Good luck, I'm sure it'll work out in an acceptable way.
