We are leaving for our first WDW trip in a few days :yay:

What is the one thing you forgot to pack that you wish you wouldn't have forgotten? Maybe it was something you use everyday and just didn't think about or something you now realize would have came in handy? :)

Children's Tylenol.... if/when you need it...its ridiculously expensive in the gift shop.

My glasses. I can't see without glasses or contacts and like to read a few minutes before bed, but can't sleep in my contacts.

Extra tapes for our camcorder. We eventually found them in Epcot but paid a fortune for them. Plus we were in MK when we realized we were out and had to record over some old footage in order not to miss taping DD at CRT.

Last year on our trip for the first time my wife had many blisters and we could have used moleskin. This year we packed it but did not need it but we were able to help another family whose little boy's feet were covered in blisters.

Driver's license

When I got to the line to check bags at the airport I grabbed for my license and almost had a heart attack. I can tell you for an absolute fact, you do not want to see the look your wife gives you when you say, "I forgot my license". On all trips now we force ourselves to actually pull out our licenses in the car and show each other that we have them since we have a 90+ minute drive each direction to go back and get them.

All my prescription meds!:scared1: Good thing we were halfway to the airport at the time. We had to rush back and forth and we got to the plane just when they started boarding.
Now I have to show my meds to my DH before we pull out of the driveway.

That's where a packing list comes in handy.... Been using one for many years....from clothes, type and count to shaving kit amenities everything is on paper and gets checked off.... I can then leave the house with no regrets and never the "did I take this or pack that" thought...

I wish I would have checked to see how much space was in my SD camera card.... I paid an arm and a leg for one at AK.

Sent from my DROIDX using DISBoards

i lost count of how many times i (or DH) forgot to pack phone chargers. Finally bought spares and keep them in with toiletry box i keep stocked for travel.

My cell phone charger!!! And fingernail clippers. I now have a cosmetic/toiletry bag that has duplicates of all the things I 'have' to have when traveling. When my dd got an iPhone last month, I took possesion of her old charger..now that stays in that bag as well!!!
And an extra, empty SD card for my camera. I'm always taking more shots than I plan on, or a video here and there. They fill up faster than you think!!! That also stays in my toiletry bag.

I also use a packing list for clothing and accessories...every time. I didn't when we had to bury my mother-in-law last weekend....left my black pants at home, on the closet door!!! So, had to wear the same dress to calling hours and to the funeral the next day. Figured we were only going for two days...didn't need a packing list. Yeah, how'd that work for me!!!??

An extra (third) pair of sneakers/walking shoes. Drenching afternoon thunderstorms. Took 3 days before my shoes dried.

There are 2 ways of reading the question. An item you wanted to bring but forgot such as a charger or an item you didn't think you'd need but wish you'd packed.

So what happened?? Did they let you through? That's one thing I never ever forget.

No, luckily we were very early (a late flight and we expected to eat dinner at the airport). We had someone back home go to my house and get my license and meet me half way to hand it off to me and my wife went through checking luggage and waited at the gate for me. This was in 2000 I think so we didn't have texting or anything like that yet and only I had a cellphone so it wasn't easily coordinated. When I got back to airport, the ticketing counter was expecting me and pushed me through really fast and it was prior to 9/11 so security was easy too. Actualy had to wait 10 minutes or so before they started boarding so it worked out but my heart got quite the workout that night. No way I could get away with it today.

WOW. You must have just flipped out when you didn't have your luggage!! Thanks for that story, it's a good lesson for all of us.:thumbsup2

Like goofy4tink, definitely my cell phone charger.

One year, I pulled the cell phone out of the charger at 3:30 am as I was running out the door. I ended up having to buy phone cards at the resort. Store. Ugh. Never again.

I know this was mentioned before, but it deserves mentioning again.....your picture ID, drivers license if you're flying. In 2007 DW and I took our youngest son, who just graduated from HS, to WDW. He wanted that instead of a party. Anyway, we stayed over night at a hotel close to the airport since the flight was so early in the morning. Flight is at 7:45am. So, at 4:30am we are all up and getting ready. 5:15 and we're getting ready to catch the transport to the airport from the hotel and jokingly I say, "everyone got their drivers license?" DW-yep, all set. Son #1- No, left it at home. First I think he is kidding. Nope. He was serious :scared1:

My whole body starts to shake. We are 1 1/2 hours from home, two hours from our flight leaving and one person is not getting on the plane. I call home to my other son #2 and explain the situation. First he must "find" his brothers' license, then hit the road and get it here, in the dark, on a unfamiliar route and in a rainstorm. No, I'm not making this up. I have to mention too that I am a compulsive planner and don't handle spontaneity very well.

As my wife worked the phone communicating between both sons in an effort to locate son #1 drivers license, I worked with a very nice, extremely helpful night manager from the Cleveland Days Inn. First she calmed me down. She called the airport for us, explaining the situation asking what we could do. The airport said that they would only accept a drivers license or birth certificate. She even called the DMV to see what time they opened in case we ended up taking another flight after getting him a new drivers license.

popcorn:: Next. Bad news. Son #2 could not find his brother's DL, so we instructed him where to find his birth certificate. After what seemed like an eternity, my son is finally on the road heading for the airport....we are now 1:45 mins away from our flight.

All we can do is wait. The lady at the hotel said that she would have the shuttle waiting for us as soon as my son arrived. I sent DW to the airport early and told her to get on the flight regardless if my son and I were there.

I was constantly on the phone with son #2 and his grandmother, who joined the adventure after a call to her to go and wake up son #1 to answer his phone in the wee hours of the morning. We were 30 mins from flight time and son #2 was within minutes of the hotel. Everyone is on standbye. Son #1 is out on the curb looking for his brother, the hotel manager is literally sitting in the hotel van waiting for us while I'm on the phone directing each turn.

Finally, son #2 comes screeching into the hotel parking lot with son #1 running behind the car. Grandma hands the birth certificate out the window to me, I give her a quick kiss, love ya and a wave goodbye while boarding the shuttle at the same time. Off we go to the airport.

The hotel shuttle dropped us off right at the Continental area and since we didn't have any luggage with us (DW checked it all with her) my son and headed for security, our biggest roadblock. Flight time: 15 mins to go. At security I calmly explained what had happened. They looked at my son's bc and asked him when his birthday was. Hurray! They let us pass. 10 mins to go. We were on a dead run, yes run. Do any of you remember the old commercials of OJ running through the airport, jumping over bags? That was us. We were dodging people, bags, carts, anything in our way. I was on the phone to DW, who was already on the plane, talking, running, telling her we might make it.

We finally get to our gate, no one was there except a Continental employee getting ready to close the door. STOP! WAIT! Made it! Now we could relax. Finally in the air and on our way to Orlando. Then it dawned on me that I did not get to tip the lady at the Days Inn for all her help. I didn't even know her name. Not to worry.

A year later we took the same trip, same hotel but without the issues. I was so happy when I went to get on the airport shuttle that the same lady was working the desk. I asked her if she remembered me, knowing she wouldn't. Then I started telling the story and she gave me a great big hug and asked if we made it. I had a thank-you card and huge tip ready for her just in case she was there. I'm so glad I was finally able to thank her properly. She drove us to the airport again and dropped us off. While we were standing in line for bag check, I realized that I had left my camera bag on the bus. Just then, no joke, I look towards the door and here she comes with my bag! She really had my number!

GREAT Story :-)

Adult cold medicine. I was so concerned with DD8 and having things for her, just in case, I ended up needing something. Actually, POR had some Contact Sinus and it worked well and wasn't too expensive. Nail clippers which I saw in a PP...forgot those, too! Take an extra SD card. If yours are new make sure they work before you go. Sometimes they are bad out of the pkg!

Great post 18Sprint...I'd have been a basket case, too. I know exactly where that Days Inn is! :)
