I've read a few mentions about a book you take along on the drive to Disney that is really good. What's the name of it, where can I get it and what makes it so good?

It's called Dave Hunter's Along the I-75 and I know you can buy it at your local CAA office. :sunny:

Each page is divided into a map of about 75 miles. On the opposite page will be various tidbits about the area you are driving through (history, speed traps, construction etc). I also really liked how each exit was marked with the services there, ie. Days Inn, McDonalds, Burger King, Sunoco, Exxon.

I believe Chapters carries it as well.

is there only one for I-75? we were thinking of going down the coast to stop and see friends in North Carolina, we'd be taking I-79/I-70

Dave Hunter's book is only for I-75 but I think one time someone mentioned on here there was another author for I-95.

Dave Hunter also has another book called "Along Florida's Expressways"

There is a book called I-95 by Stan Posner and Sandra Phillips Posner.
Not sure what it's like.

Just an FYI...most CAA stores in SW Ontario are out of Dave's book and will be until fall...apparently even the bookstores are out.....it seems there were not enough printed considering Dave decided to not do a new one this past year. We are told we will have to wait until this fall when the new one comes out and he will only be doing it every two years now.

It would make sense for the publisher to order another printing...the word at CAA is that hasn't happened yet!

I do believe the distance covered on each map is significantly less than 75 miles as the time needed to drive each page is usually around 25 minutes.

::yes:: Each page is 25 miles long. It is so cool to change those pages over. We've done a number of the side trips, too.

:guilty: I just wanted to add in, please do not try to get this book at your latest Coles, Chapters, or Indigo bookstore. The company has had problems with the publisher and/or the author will be getting incredibly short supply of the book ( I am asked for it like 5 times a day!) if any. CAA is now going to be your best bet, but even they are selling it like crazy. there is a book called "the 401 and the 1-75" which is very very similar and will still work well if you're leaving from Ontario!

I have the latest (2005) edition of Dave Hunter's book if anyone would like to buy it. Just send me a PM. I have a friend borrowing it April 24 for about 2 weeks but then I could sell it as I won't be driving for a few years.

We don't have it at CAA either!! Asked as many times in a day...what is that publisher thinking!!!

I have the book "Interstate 75 and the 401" as well as the "I-75 "book (2004 edition) and both are very similar. The "Interstate 75 and the 401" is available at most Chapters stores. I work at the St Catharines store and we have lots of copies in stock. Just check on chapters.ca and it will tell you which stores have it in stock.
