What's the most pages you've fit into an album?

I just transitioned over to 12 x 12 from 8.5 x 11. When I did the smaller format, I used regular 3 ring binders and page protectors so there was no limit to how many pages I could do for one album - I'd just change the size of the binder. Now that I'm doing 12 x 12 I'm finding that I may have a problem. I tend to do a LOT of pages, especially for trips. The only 12x12 album I have completed so far was the baby gift album for my friend, which was 46 pages (I used I think 3 sets of post extenders) and I felt like any more and it would have been just too big.

So I was wondering what is the most number of pages you have fit into a 12 x 12 album? Not CM - I don't use those - but post-bound top loading ones. I have a few different brands right now.

ACM and Mike's sells 12x12 binders. Maybe that is the way to go! I think I have gotten about 45 pages in some of my books. But they weren't lumpy pages.

I'll go count mine.... but I suppose it depends on how bulky your pages are. If you include a pocket page with cards and such, it will definitely affect how many pages you can include............P

I counted the pages in DD's 2002 WDW book.... probably the thickest book I have. It has 33 page protectors.... so about 66 pages (two pages per protector...back to back). But it is truly too full and it wants to kind of slide apart. THere are probably 4 post extenders on each post. Admittedly, I also use the cheapest albums I can find... around here that is usually Pioneer. I'm really quite happy with their quality usually, but I push the limits by putting too many pages in them. I would say that no more than 25 page protectors (which would be about 50 pages) would be the limit to most post bound albums.

FWIW, the Pioneer albums only have two posts, even though the page protectors have three holes. Maybe it they added a third post it would stabilize the albums and they would be able to hold more pages.

I did buy some Colorbok albums on clearance at Target, but I have not been thrilled with them. It has been difficult to find page protectors to fit them. Through searching and diligence I did finally find some, but I won't be buying Colorbok albums anytime soon. Plus they have sort of a cloth covering and I am concerned about that getting stained and dirty over time. The Pioneer albums are vinyl that can be easily wiped. ............................P

DH would say that my answer to your question should be "way to darn many!". :rotfl2: My trip albums are always HUGE. It doesn't matter how many times we've been--I still end up with tons of pics. My biggest album was from June 2006 (we were there for 9 days). It has 72 page protectors in it (144 pages), and a lot of them are lumpy (using swap stuff). It's big, and you have to gingerly set it in someone's lap so as not to knock the air out of them, but it works. I used one of the WDW albums, but I had to take the spine out (gee, wonder why??).

Thanks for the info!

The only 12x12 binders I've seen have been kind of on the small side, but I will definitely look again next time I'm in those stores.

Thanks for counting, pjilla! 50 pages is kind of what I thought might be the limit. I'll have to play around with them, because 50 pages is not going to be enough for my recent trip.

SIOH - when you say you took the spine out, are you still using posts? I love the WDW albums but I've never gotten one because I knew it wouldn't be big enough for me - if I can adjust it, that might be an option.

KAMommy once (like a year ago) posted something about redoing albums using some kind of rings from Home Depot - do you remember that or am I just imagining that? I know her albums are enormous also!

I still use the posts--WAY extended. I bought the ones at Hobby Lobby that are super long, and I use 2 of them on each one (plus what's there). DH has to do album assembly for me. KAMommy's albums are big, too. She took the posts out of one and put big bolts in it from Home Depot. She also had another one that she took the posts out of and put these adhesive mounted straps in--that one's kind of hard to explain. It worked, though.

What I meant about the spine was the little thing that goes in between the 2 covers that usually says "Walt Disney World" or the year on it. My poor books never get one of those! :sad2:

I ended up splitting my WDW album into 2 books, the bigger of the 2 has 25 sheets/50 pages. I used those straps from Pioneer but they are not staying glued to the book so I'm going to switch back to posts.

I like the bolt idea!
