What's the line up like for an Uber at the end of the night?

Usually I stay a close walking distance to the entrance (hojo is the furthest I've stayed from the parks) however with the rising cost of everything I'm considering staying further away and catching ubers to/from the parks. However I'm interested to know how difficult it is or how long it takes to catch an uber after the park has closed for the evening.

I cant comment on the uber part of it but I thought I would throw something out there. Our last visit we ended up staying near toy story parking lot so we were able to take the bus to the parking lot and walk to the hotel from there. We could also walk to the toy story parking lot and take the bus to the park. It was free and pretty simple. Might be worth looking at if there are any reasonable hotels near it.

In general, around park closing time, it has taken 15 to 30 minutes the dozen or so times we have used uber or lift. At first we called for pick up at the pick up/drop off lot on Harbor Blvd. by the bus depot. This takes longer because the drivers get backed up in a line of cars trying to get onto the lot. We now walk across Harbor and a bit north up to McDonalds for pick up. Seems to cut the time down.

It's definitely something I'd consider, but I figure if I have to be waiting for something anyway (the bus or tram) then I might as well just wait for an uber that will take me straight to my hotel.

I haven't ever waited more than 10 minutes...HOWEVER, it is a crazy, hectic scene with lots of cars comingin. I usually wait just past the entrance so my Uber doesnt have to turn in (works best if you are going south on Harbor -I go to CCI). Makes it a whole lot faster. Be aware that there are sometimes "pretend" Ubers sitting in pickup area who will offer you a ride. Go only with car service (Lyft or Uber) that you ordered...most people would, I only mention it cause it's happened more than once.

Everyone's experience seems to be different here...I'm guessing it also depends on the time of year. In April, June, and December...I have not had a wait longer than 10minutes, which, yes, I could have walked to CCI by then. I just didnt WANT to...

Yeah, I've never had issues with it at all. It's a tad chaotic in the pick-up zone, but it seems to go reasonably quick. I do call for the ride when walking out of the parks, not once I get there, so I can incorporate some wait time into the walking time.

Basically here to second this post. I have only had one issue with getting an Uber/Lyft from the parks (and that was almost 6 years ago during a rain storm). We do the same thing and call for it as we come out the park gates, so once we make it to the pickup area, it's much less of a wait. Yes, the waiting area can be chaotic, especially right after fireworks. But, just keep a sharp eye and watch your surroundings and it's fine.

Don't they have their own shuttle you can use ?

Yes but you have to coordinate with the schedule...most of time late at night, I wanna go NOW...LOL
I totally understand that. I am in the planning stages of a trip to Las Vegas and it will be the first time I won't have my own car to get from point A to point B. Just thinking about having to be on the bus schedule or even an Uber/Lyft is stressing me out.

I use them everywhere...Boston, Toronto, Phoenix...any place that doesnt have good mass transit. I was hesitant to book at first just going back to CCI cuz its only about $6-8 (same with Hyatt Place when I stayed there when CCI was still closed) but after talking to several drivers, a lot of them just run up and down Harbor and the surrounding area all day. There are always plenty of people going back and forth. Vegas...thats a different animal entirely because most everything is on the Strip and its always at a standstill. They used to have a little trolley that went up and down, otherwise, I would just walk it. But its not for me so I havent been back in ages. Absolutely nothing there that appeals.

Added: not even the Rangers playing VGK would get me back ! :rotfl2:

This is my first and likely only trip. I do plan to do things off the strip, that is where I am thinking an Uber might be needed..

It'll probably depend on how busy it is when you are leaving. I've walked past it several times when staying about a mile down Harbor and leaving 10pm or later. It's usually been insane with cars backed up and people sitting on the curb waiting for their ride to be able to drive into the section. I always think, "I'm glad I don't need to take an Uber/Lyft."

We walk to the Grand Californian and have Uber pick us up there. It feels less hectic and it’s nice to wait in the warm hotel if it’s cold out.

I won't use it anymore personally, it takes too long and I don't enjoy the hectic atmosphere. I feel like cars just sit in there now waiting and there is never enough room for the line of Ubers to come into the lot. We started staying by Toy Story and taking the shuttle. Stayed at Homewood Suites and Hampton, we can walk to the shuttle area in 8 minutes from either hotel.
