What's the IT job market like in Tampa and Orlando?

I'm going to graduate with a bachelor's in Computer Information Systems degree probably in a year to 1 1/2 years and I'm looking to relocate to Tampa or Orlando. I'm worried about finding a job since the IT market seems to be in a bad state now. So what are the job opportunities like in Tampa or Orlando? Will I be able to find a job or should I apply for Chippendale's? I hope my 5 years doing computer tech support can count for something. I have no certifications yet. I do have an English degree, so maybe I can fall back on that.

You know where he works now right? They do have a Tampa office.. (we went to it) and they may need some techies.. If you need to know the name of the company I can PM it to you.

He also got headhunters names, and just asked...

One time, he got really gutsy, and called WDW information and got the IT directors name... he addressed a resume to her, and then called her every week for a month. Finally, an assistant called us up and arranged a interview.

He got two interviews for Magic Kingdom LAN /Desktop Support via that method.


Also the local Tampa paper used to have stuff online, and we actually got a nice letter regarding our application.. Research companies... does Microsoft have a field office around there?

Both Jeff and I have interviewed at Microsoft.. me for local office, him for Charlotte, NC.
