What's the deal with the DL Official Calendar??

I am still wondering why The Haunted Mansion will be closed for such a long time? Maintenance work after the hmh de-installation? That is all that I can think of so far. For normally after Jan. 01, the HM is closed down for the removal of the hmh. Then @ 2 weeks later it is re-opened as the more or less traditional HM.

You know what I don't see on the calender......Aladdin...which will be so sad, DBF loves Aladdin and this is his birthday trip after all...BUT it also doesn't say it will be closed so I don't know what to think....

Maybe they found some things while putting up the overlay that they think could use some attention? But they needed to get HMH up and running? Idk.

And pixie...I hope you guys get to see aladdin! :)

That's the same thing that's happening w/ F! It normally shows at least the last weekend of the holiday overlay but it isn't on the calendar still. I emailed them a few weeks ago and they said as of that date they were still planning on showing it, but it is subject to change. I think it's the economy, i.e. cutbacks. Maybe they don't want to put things on the calendar so it leaves the door open to not offering it, and that way customers can't complain and say that it was on the calendar because it wasn't. :confused3 :sad2:

Hmmm, you're probably right. Well, here's hoping we get to see F! and Aladdin!!!!

I'm praying hard pirates goes off the calendar. I asked Vp about it, and they had nothing on it going down for refurb. I'm very happy me, and dd got to ride it, and dine at BB, but was REALLY hoping to do BB with DH in March. Here's to heavy wishing. Also TMZ reported yesterday they fired 4 Jack Sparrows yesterday due to a CM, or worker reporting it was because grown women were actually flashing their um girls (sorry lack of a better word). Disney says not true they were fired due to the characters popularity decrease. I don't know about that when we were there people were chasing him down.

Please tell me that Pirates will not be closed! We were looking at going on Feb. 16th and that is our favorite ride!!! When will we hear for sure? I don't want to book our trip if this ride is closed! :sad2:

From Disney:

These are the rides (didnt give me any info about shows) due to be closed in the January/february range.

I hope that the current refurbishment schedule remains in effect. Otherwise, attempting to figure out when a ride might or might not be scheduled for such, can become quite the guessing game. I most definitely need to know by a certain time frame, whether or not the current schedule is going to change. The last thing that I wish to do, is to book my trip, only to find out at the last minute, essentially, that the schedule has changed again(Only not to my advantage) Now if it is going to be to my advantage, then no problem.

So do you guys think that Small World and HM will actually be closed all the way thru 2/14? We're going on our first (and maybe only) trip to DL from 2/11-2/15 (we weren't planning on going to the parks on the 15th, though). I was looking so forward to experiencing the DL versions of these attractions :sad2: Should I plan on trying to hit the parks for these 2 attractions on 2/15, before we head over to our business convention? Please give me some help on this! :confused3

I don't know. In the past, I thought they were reopened by the end of January. But who knows.

HM usually goes down for about 2 weeks to the remove HMH layover.

As for SW, if the rumors of adding the Disney characters throughout the ride are true (please no!), they are doing that during the post-holiday closure as well as the holiday layover removal. Remember, IASW was down for 8 months with a hard deadline of re-opening in time for the holiday season. If they have more work to do on that, they will be doing it when they close it again to remove the holiday layover.

I also want to add that I have my favorite rides (one was down for 8 months ;) ) and things that were on the top of my list when we visited WDW, but never once did I check the refurb schedule when picking our travel dates.

I adore the Country Bears Jamboree and was SOOOO excited to be able to see it again when we went on our once-in-10-years trip to WDW, along with riding WDW's version of IASW. Was I heart-broken when I discovered my bears were closed for holiday decorating when we were there? YES! Did it in anyway make our trip less somehow, no. It's 1 thing out of 100s to enjoy. It IS possible to have a wonderful vacation when the 1 thing you really wanted to see is closedd for refurb.

Keep in mind, you could plan based on calendars until the end of time and something mechanical could happen prior to your trip that would affect 1 attraction that you have planned your entire vacation around.

I just hate to see people plan their entire vacation around 1 ride. It is not the end of the universe if you don't get to ride X. Trust me, I have a great picture of the front of the Country Bears Jamboree - and a hope that they will be there in however many years when we go back!

Just my perspective,
Dreams

Awh man, I've said it before and I'll say it again.

I'm totally bummed out that POTC is going to be shut down STARTING the day I get there! I might have to just go to the park the night I get there, haha waste an entire day pass on ONE ride! Yeah, I'm crazy and would do it!

If I didn't have an AP, I would! If you have a several day hopper anyway, adding another day (though you might want to do it now, b/c they sometimes want to charge so you lose any discount you might have gotten) isn't expensive at all.

My perspective....no one here seems to be planning their entire vacation around one ride.

It's like $10 to add a day, so worth it to get that ride in. I have an AP but I would so totally add a day for Pirates. :)

People do.....people do.....
Heck, I changed my whole schedule to make it before they shut down IASWH and HMH. LOL Only by a couple days, I was originally planning to go the 6th-11th but I changed it to be the 3rd-8th instead. :)

I'm getting a five day park hopper and was really only planning on using four of those days anyway. The big problem is I'm going with friends and we were planning on spending the day in LA since that's where we're flying in from.

I need to talk to my peeps but I'm going to lobby hard, plus there has to be something special about DL on Valentine's day right???

We also rearanged our trip so we could be in the parks on the 4th so we can get on Hm and IASW even though it means starting our drive on JAN 1 :rotfl:

Not sure what this means regarding the Pirates ride ... but they let me book lunch reservations today at the Blue Bayou on Feb 22nd.

Would it be open if the ride were closed?

I have read of people actually showing up for PS and the place being closed. So, yes, I think they could book it even if it had already been decided that it would be closed.

If they know then they won't let you book a reservation. We tried in 06 because we hadn't found this oh so awesome board and didn't know the BB or even Pirates was closed. And yes, they will leave the BB open if Pirates is closed but it's not as good. The ambiance is off without the ride operating.
