What's the deal with BWV Grand Villas?!

Hi all,

I tried to get a Grand Villa at the Boardwalk calling exactly 11mos out and no go...never had this problem before. I was calling for Dec 5-10 and tried calling day by day 11 mos out. The first day, I was not able to call til noontime, but they did have 1 GV available. The next day I called at 9:05 (a Monday) and was on hold for 20 minutes and when I got through, no GV's available. The third day, I started dialing at 8:55 and got right through a few minutes later (before 9!) and still no GV's available.

Now I know it's low point season and holiday season, but something just doesn't seem right since on that 3rd day I was one of the first few callers in and nothing open?

Any thoughts? Do you think they are reserving them for a special guest or a special event?

I ended up deciding to get a 2BR and 1BR rather than waitlisitng, but boy was I surprised and disappointed (thought I had this down to a science!)

DVC should not be reserving any member inventory ahead of the 11 month window. AFAIK, they do not. I also do not think DVC deposits any GVs into II and I don't recall the GVs being available for cash (at least no on the weekdays).

There are only 7 GVs at the BWV and that first week in December is a very popular time with members. It really doesn't surprise me that all 7 were gone so quickly. IIRC, there are over 100 MS agents taking calls at 9.

Wow, I liked it better when very few people called day by day At least I know I did evrything I could!

Just a thought...mark the SEVEN MONTH window on your calendar and try for an OKW Grand Villa the instant Member Services opens on that day. No, OKW does not have the same level of activity as BW and is not within walking distance of the parks, but for the space and the fewer points required, it isn't a bad trade-off (actually I PREFER OKW to BW and stayed in an OKW Grand Villa in November. Wonderful in every way!)
