Well im planning my trip after next to go during a celebration, but im undecided whether to go during Christmas on Halloween.

So this is where you fellow DISers can help me out, if you had to choose one when would you go and why.

We have no kids ( at the moment ) so me and the gf are just going for ourselves and will most likely stay on site in the Cheyenne I would think.

What do you suggest?

Having been to both last year, I would say Halloween, especially if you have no children and presumably won't be queueing to see Father Christmas! There seem to be more decorations in the park for Halloween and the extra characters and shows are great fun.

Nothing beats seeing the castle all lit up by Christmas. So you can guess what i voted lol.

I think the lights are the same - they put them up for Halloween and leave them up for Christmas. I might be wrong, that's what I was told in Inventions when we saw them being put up in October.

2 words...Halloween...Rules

The Americans seem much bigger on Halloween than they are on Christmas and this (to me) really came accross at DLRP this year.

There were more decorations for Halloween, an entire Halloween land, small parties every week leading to a massive Halloween party, Halloween dressed characters everywhere and a special Halloween parade.

Christmas was slightly dissapointing put next to Halloween. The shows were slightly better for Christmas than Halloween but the Villans show for Halloween was the best show that I have seen at a Disney park in years.

The only real + sides of Christmas to me where the Castle lights, Fantillusion Parade and the Christmas decorations in the Hotels which were quite nice (but nothing amazing)

Infact Glenn your thread has just reminded me of something....

Its a difficult choice if you haven't been to either yet.

I think Christmas at DLRP is absolutely beautiful, and I'm intending going again in Christmas season to see it all again. Main St is gorgeous, the characters costumes are lush, and the castle with all those thousands of lights - awesome  . I don't remember all the decorations in the studios that I've seen in report photos from Christmas just past, I think they look fantastic. Plus you have the opportunity of seeing Fantillusion in Christmas season.

Halloween season is fun fun fun though, and I'm glad I experienced that too. The Villains show is excellent, some of the characters dress up in fancy dress, the meet n greet characters have different costumes at Halloween, and Main St and Frontierland are awash with pumpkins :goodvibes . I would have loved the MNSSHP, but we weren't there on any of the days it was happening.

When I went before the 1st day of Christmas the lights were never lit up on the castle. :confused3

Ah, maybe they put them up but don't always light them all up? At the beginning of October every night there were cranes up at the castle and it was being completely covered in lights.

I think they put up the nets of lights on the castle much earlier, but I do think you're right Emma, I don't think they light them all over the castle until the start of Christmas season, and Enchanted Candleabration.

as im a christmas nut , i would say christmas lol

even tho ive never seen the halloween season

this year i was torn between christmas or halloween and we choose halloween

want to see what its like

:cool1:

i havent been at christmas yet but i loved halloween. i would go for halloween to be honest. we had beautiful weather, parks not too busy, brilliant show, amazing mnnshp. it was a perfect trip

Without hesitation I'd have to say Halloween, the Christmas season is very beautiful but Halloween is all about having fun.:goodvibes

That might sway me then, the castle lit up is stunningly beautiful. If they weren't going to light it up at all though I don't understand why they were doing it at the beginning of October and the CM said they were doing it for Halloween and leaving it up for Xmas. Perhaps it is lit up for Halloween itself but then isn't lit up properly again until Xmas?

the castle was definately not lit up at halloween. while i was there it was still bright enough at 7. even candleabration wasnt very effective so it wouldnt be the same even if they did light it kwim

Def Halloween for me...Xmas is lovely, but I perfer the halloween shows, themeing etc and it just felt more fun!

I loved Christmas - it was very romantic :lovestruc but agree halloween looks great fun! Too be honest you cant go wrong with either, and hoepfully it would be a bit warmer for halloween!:goodvibes

You do get fantillusion for Christmas which is amazing and worth it for me its my favourite disney parade :goodvibes

I've done both and although Christmas is very beautiful and truly magical, I prefer Halloween as it's fun fun fun all the way. I think the weather helps too ~ although the real snow made our Christmas trip, being the soft Southerners that we are, we did find it extremely cold! :cold:

You'll just have to do both ~ now, which one will you do first? ;)

thanks guys, so what your saying is really i should go to both then!

Looks like im back to where i started then!
