Need to fly to WA state to see my parents this summer and I'm looking for a SUPER DUPER cheap site. I've been to cheaptickets, cheapseats, orbitz and priceline. I'm still looking for a better fare. Who's got good tips to find the rock bottom fare?

I've always had the best luck dealing directly with the airlines.

And I'll second the South West recommendation!

We got a great rate for our WDW vacation in August.:hyper:

I agree. In the past year or so, I have gotten the best rates through the airlines' websites.

Check with Alaska Airlines, they've been adding a bunch of midwest/east coast runs. We got a got our tickets to Orlando through them and paid $260 a ticket for a non-stop out of Seattle.

Unfortunately, SW doesn't fly into Yakima. My parents are older and driving from Yakima to Seattle to pick me up isn't an option. Renting a car will cost just as much as flying from Seattle to Yakima. Best I've found so far is on Northwests website for $438 all the way into Yakima. Southwest from Norfolk, VA to Seattle was $360. Priceline might be cheaper but you don't know your flight times until after you purchase and that could cause some problems. Seems the discount websites aren't so discount after all. :(

I have been checking airfares from San Antonio to St. Louis for July thru Aug....but everything is so expensive right now....I wish I had booked the internet special i saw on SW airline website a few weeks ago but I was hoping American AA would come down in price since it is non stop.
SW airlines has their internet special post every Tues morning. They change their city special weekly and at times over systemwide savings....

I would suggest that you visit the standard discount airfare sites such as Orbitz and Travelocity. Make note which airlines are offering what fares, etc... then visit those airlines' with the best pricing to see what specials they offer direct to the public. This way, you omit the middle man and you can avoid any fees, etc...

I found a fare on Northwest today for $398. Is that good? My DH says they'll get cheaper if I wait (leaving early August.) Is that true?

Have you checked airfare into Portland (PDX)? I don't know if it would be any cheaper but it seems about the same distance as flying into Seattle. Good luck!

While Portland is about the same distance as Seattle, the same problem applies, my parents aren't able to pick me up so I'd have to fly on into Yakima therefore eating up any savings that way. Has to be an airline that will fly directly into Yakima or Pasco.

Sorry...I understand now. I don't think the fares will go down, if anything they will go up due to fuel surcharges. If the flight dates/times are convenient, I'd go ahead and get the ticket. Usually if you purchase it direct from the airline they will give a credit if the fare on the same flight/class of service goes down. It's not automatic, you have to check the fares and call the second it goes down and ask for the credit.
