Which bridge do you usually cross at? I am thinking of going to Fort Erie and using the Peace Bridge crossing. It looks a little bit further than using the Rainbow Bridge or Lewiston Bridge so not sure. Does anyone have a preference if you come to this airport? Thanks for your input.

I am in Guelph, and I always use Fort Erie, I never had a wait at the border.

we always cross at leiweston bridge and this time of year there are not really big line ups

What day are you crossing? I can provide some input that might help once you let me know day of the week and time that you plan to cross.
Lewiston is normally the worst to cross and have some serious delays that are not posted on the wait time list.

We are on a later evening flight so think we will cross around this time but may be a bit later. Thanks for any input.

WE LIVE 10 MIN FROM QUEENSTON LEWISTON BRIDGE IN NOTL. WE ALMOST ALWAYS DRIVE TO PEACE BRIDGE. WE FIND IT FASTER WHEN THERE ARE LESS CARS. IF THERE IS NO WAIT AT QUEENSTON, IT IS SLIGHTLY FASTER. THERE IS A CHARGE OF A $1 TO CROSS THE GRAND ISLAND BRIDGE. YOU CAN GO LOOK AT THE BRIDGES LIVE WEB CAMS TO SEE THE ACTUAL TRAFFIC. DONT RELY ON THE REPORTS THAT TELL YOU THE WAIT TIME, THEY CAN BE UNACCURATE. ONCE YOUR OVER THE PEACE BRIDGE ITS USUALLY ONLY ANOTHER 15 to 20 min. IT USUALLY TAKES US 45 MINs EITHER WAY FROM OUR HOUSE. WE USUALLY GO OVER THE NIGHT BEFORE AND STAY BY THE AIRPORT.

I am from the Falls and I would have to say that going through to Fort Erie and using the Peace Bridge always tends to be the best option for me! They generally have a lot of open lanes and avoiding the Grand Island bridge is always a huge plus ! :)

Bande,

For the day you are going I think that is good for you to plan to cross between 11am-1pm. While we haven't had much of a winter, any snow/winter storm around that day allow plan to cross closer to 11am.
Even though it is mid-day, as others have posted on here I would recommend Peace Bridge or Rainbow in Niagara Falls. My family and I have always had good experiences crossing both of these, while Queenston-Lewiston always seems to be backed up.
Hope that helps and have a great trip.

I think we will plan to go to Fort Erie and cross at the Peace Bridge as suggested. He rarely (almost never) cross the border so all this information was so very helpful. We are flexible that if the weather turns more wintery we will leave much earlier than planned just to be sure we have lots of time to spare. Thanks again.

:thumbsup2

We are from Guelph and we always use Fort Erie Bridge. We are actually heading down in just over a month for our 1st Cruise and we will be using Fort Erie again. We are heading down on a Friday and hoping to arrive at the border for 8:30am (giving us 2 hours to get to the border, just in case of weather and traffic). We are giving ourselves 45 minutes at the border(we have never delayed this long). We are then heading to the hotel to park vehicle and then take the shuttle over for our flight at 11:30am. Best of luck and have fun.:)

Another from Guelph and we also typically cross over at Fort Erie. 6.5 weeks until we are heading back over to go to Disneyland :woohoo::dance3:

Sorry OT but just booked a car rental for LAX last night through Hotwire.ca. 8 days for March break for an economy car was $102 taxes in.
Larger cars were $20 more.

If you have an iPhone there is a fabulous app called BorderWait. It shows all the US/Canada bridge crossings and wait times. I'd say it's been 90% accurate all the times I've used it (quite frequently as my Grandmother lives in Lewiston NY). I cross at whichever bridge has the shortest wait times. Queenstons/Lewiston is the fastest....if there isn't a wait! There are often BRUTAL wait times at that bridge though!

I'm from Waterloo and we always cross at Fort Erie. The wait times are never that long and we've even crossed during busy March break.

Have a great trip!

We always cross t Fort Erie, the airport is very learly marked as soon as you are across and back on the highyway. It's about 15 min once you are over.

I am from Cambridge and we have crossed at Queenston Lewiston multiple times but usually very early in the morning. I know this bridge can get pretty backed up.

Have a great trip. When are you going?

Are you doing a cruise or Disneyland?? What are your dates? We'll be staying at GCV from March 7-13 Will check Hotwire out but we need a minivan and best price I've found so far is $300 taxes in! that's more then I have ever paid for a rental car!!
