what's the best suite?

I'm looking for a nice hotel/suite for 6 people close to the parks.
We will be renting a car. Also we were planning on the last week in November or first in December- can anyone tell me if we can count on swimming during our stay or if it's more hit or miss this time of year? Thanks.

At that time frame, you should be able to swim. That time of year is usually very nice. As far as hotel for 6, I can't help too much there. You may want to try Skyauction.com to bid on a timeshare condo. They have studios to 3 bedrooms. I used them last year & got Westgate Vacation Villas for one week, 2 bedroom ...slept 8, full kitchen, washer/dryer, living room, dining area, 3 TV's, VCR, patio for all under $400 including taxes and service fees....

for 6 people you are going to need either a 2-bedroom or 2 studios (i would go with the 2 studios - but everyone is different)

you can rent OKW (a DVC resort) from a member - go to the DVC rental/trade site - the going rate is $10 per point - for Dec and Nov (most of Nov) it is 8 points for a studio so 80 points for a 2-bedroom 22 points so $220 - you can always ask if the person would accept less money - some will some won't

I have been in some of the Orlando timeshares - they are all wonderful - but OKW's 2-bedroom is worth it.

Now if you are going some place besides WDW - like SW or US/IOA - then go look at the Marriott's, Sheraton's or Hilton's timeshares that are also in the area. Orange Lake also have a very local following.

if you want to see the resort reviews you have to join - but you go to the discussion group without joining - there is a last minute rental - that you might find some bargins.

OKW is nice but is fairly pricey. If you are looking for a more economical solution check out the Summerfield Suites - Lake Buena Vista.

I just booked a 2 bedroom, 2 bath with full kitchen suite for $99 a night using the AAA rate. Summerfield Suites is part of the Wyndham Family of hotels.

We are going to be 5 adults on vacation so this works out great for us. One bedroom has a king bed and the other bedroom has 2 double beds, plus there is pull out sofa bed.

Thanks. That rate at Sommerfield sounds great. I will check it out. This is the 1st time our family has ventured outside the world. The first time was ASM, then BC; which was wonderful.
But our family has grown and we just can't afford 2 rooms onsite.

Any suggestions for off-site plans would be greatly appreciated.
We have 2 adults & 4 kids and I imagine a suite would be our best bet.

We're planning on Dec. 2004, so I doubt if I can even make reservations yet, but I guess it's never too early to start planning.

I've heard good things about Summerfield Suites, but for $99/nite you can get much more space by renting a pool home or condo. Check out http://www.vrbo.com. I've personally rented homes in the Lindfields development several times and would recommend them. For our next trip in November, we're booked in a 3-bedroom condo at Windsor Palms for $90/nite. Windsor Palms also has 3-5 bedroom pool homes starting at less than $100/nite. Their website is http://www.windsor-palms-resort.com/

Thanks to hel from a DIS member, I found better rates than AAA for Summerfield Suites LBV. You can sign up for Wyndham's preferred guest program (forget the name) and then check into their web rates...

One time we booked a room for $89, then found a web rate for $59!! The advantage is that you're very close to WDW and feel that you're a part of it, while most of the condos are a bit further away...but depends what you're looking for.
