First time on Eurostar, going from Ebbsfleet, in April :).

We're going to drive down the evening before, stay in a premier inn in the area, then park at the train station when we take the Eurostar.

I'm favouring Gravesend central, as that appears to be closest (10 minutes drive to the station) but theres also Gravesend A2, and West Thurrock. We are travelling down the M1 then M25 from the Midlands.

Does anyone have any experience of any of these hotels, or the area? Convenience for driving to the train station is my priority, we have plenty of time as we're booked on the 11.15 Eurostar :).

The Gravesend central one is next to a nice beefeater restaurant and its away from the town centre so no noise. The A2 one is next to the A2 which is like a motorway so you may get noise. Never been to the West Thurrock one but its on the other side of the Dartford bridge and if anything happens on the bridge its long way round (in to London and back)

We're travelling from the north midlands and have booked Thurrock (west I think!) It was £30 cheaper than Gravesend.

they are all roughly the same price for my dates, thankfully :).

Thank you so much for all that information :goodvibes, thats exactly what I was thinking, if the worst happened and we found ourselves in delays around the Dartford crossing I'd rather they were the night before we go, not the day we go.

I would recommend either one's in Gravesend/A2 area as you will have cleared the Dartford Crossing which is notorious for queues also don't forget your £2 for the toll.

Staying here you are only a 5-10 min drive to Bluewater shopping centre where there are several places to eat.

The Thurrock one is by a busy roundabout just off the M25 and near the industrial estate which sees many lorries going through.

ta Nikki, i'll get it booked soon i think.

No problem, ask any questions as the area is not far from where I live and I go to Gravesend a lot for work

I live a mile away from the Thurrock one, the location isn't an issue as it's well soundproofed, but that damned dartford crossing could well and truly screw up your train plans - on the average rush hour it could take you up to 30 mins to get from the entry slip of the m25, which is round the other side of the roundabout the premier inn is on, to past the tolls. Add in an accident or two either on the bridge itself or anywhere between junctions 1 and 4 and you're stuck for an hour minimum. Stay on the Kent side of the water if I were you!

:goodvibes

thanks again - I've booked Gravesend Central today :).

parking is £5 per day at Ebbsfleet international -

it might be worth it for you, to phone a Gravesend cab company to get prices for the fare from them, to compare with the parking charge. I don't need a room on the way home as our Eurostar gets back early evening, so I can drive straight home from the train station.

Only car park D is £5 per day as it's furthest from station the rest is £9.

Depending on how long you are going for I can't see the taxi being more then your car park unless you only going a couple of nights
