Whats the best part about camping at WDW?

At first we chose the Fort because it was an inexpensive way to visit WDW and stay "inside" with all the resort privileges and be close to the parks. Now we sometimes go just to camp. We have camped up and down the eastern USA from Maine to Florida and consider the Fort the best campground in the universe (in our opinion). Sure its gotten more expensive and some of the privacy feeling is missing since they cut back a lot of the foliage a couple of years ago, but they improved the pools and the sites so its a balance. When we are there its like living in our own little vacation village. Like our neighbors we decorate our site to make it like home and its particularly beautiful at Christmas.

Its camping with a Walt Disney theme. Its camping with WDW attention to detail. Its showers that are cleaner than any I have ever been in. Its the Tri-circle D ranch. Its the settlement area. Now its the pool also. Its looping in a golf cart (which can take up a lot of time, its so big). Its the campfire and the movies.

In summary, I like fort wilderness because IT is Fort Wilderness and no body even comes close to the feeling you get when you stay there.

I like the Fort because you trully feel like your where you should be. It has its own magic seperate from Disney World. And the people you meet there are wonderfull. Yes there is the rude camper once in a while but that is anywhere. And if you run into a fellow diser you feel like your with the part of the family you actually like.:cool1:. And before you leave you are planning your next visit.

Ditto!

In addition, for us camping also allows us to bring our dogs with us (a huge reason we ever got a camper in the first place), and the Fort is one of the most accommodating campgrounds for dogs that we've been to - the dog walks, clean up bags conveniently nearby, the dog park.... all help us to make sure that we AND our dogs have a great vacation.

We love that the Fort still feels like we're "outdoors" but with all the amenities and comforts that you could possible want/need. There is wildlife aplenty, and a beautiful natural setting, but also a beach and hot tub. ;)

The ability to just hop on the golf cart and go hang out at the beach/pool, grab a drink at Crockett's, get some take out at Trails End, zip to one of the trading posts for a little shopping, or just site see.... all without ever leaving the resort, are big parts of why we love FW. Add to that being only a 12 minute boat ride from MK or a short bus ride to the other parks (car? who needs a car?), or just being able to watch Wishes from the FW beach, and we can't come up with a better place to spend our vacation.

Once we settle into our site, we really do feel like we're at our home away from home. :goodvibes

For me, it's the most relaxing place in the "World". Any other time at WDW, I'm just in a hotel, so have to get out and go. At the Fort, I spend lots more time at the Fort and really just chill out.

the camping, :thumbsup2.

oh, and the dogs like it.

wait, also looping, you can bring a golf cart.

OH ! and how could I forget the FISHING ! :thumbsup2

I like FW because I don't have to deal with most of the people from the other resort boards.

The people you meet are great, the place is wonderful with so many activities that it can even keep my DH who can't sit still happy. The best reason we go there is we can have our fur babies with us. They love the dog park, there are great places to walk them and they can have their own little home (the RV is their's we just make the payments) away from home.

Having my fur baby with me and being only a short boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom!

I have my own bed, to us it's the best campground we have ever been to.
We feel like it's our 2nd home.
Our FT Fiends.

Where to begin? The pools, the ranch, the lake shore, the quietness, the peacefulness, the kids' activities, in short...Everything!

I love not having to go to the parks to have a great time. In a hotel, I couldn't stand to be there all day. At the Fort, I don't mind not going to the parks. It's nice to just stay there.

Well said! :thumbsup2

Let me start off by saying what isn't great about staying at The Fort. You can do as much or as little as you want to. We walk or bike everywhere, so it's also healthy. Campers are great and everyone is friendly. I would not want to be cramped up in a hotel room for 2 weeks. We also get to bring our dogs and they love it. All we have to do is say that we are going to Walt Disney World and they get excited. The bath houses are beautiful and so is the pool. Some loops are more private than others, but it's all what you want. We dont mind staying further out, so it's a personal preference. We drive from Maryland for 2 weeks every year and if gas wan't so expensive, I know that we would come more often. We were there for the first 2 weeks in December and made reservations for next year while we were still there. I wouldn't stay anywhere else.:mickeyjum:mickeyjum:mickeyjum

I certainly resonate with most of the reasons aforementioned. My main reason, though, is that if it weren't for the Fort I'd never get to go to WDW. My wife simply refuses to board our dogs and so we would have no other way to go. That said, where else can you stroll down to the beach to see fireworks nightly? Or take in a free show and run into Chip & Dale? Get free, reliable transportation from your campsite to somewhere WORTH going to? Tons of activities just in case one gets bored of all the relaxing. And the great dining options at the cam... uh, nah, ok, never mind on that one.

The cleanliness and natural beauty are # 1. It just feels great being there.
The new pool is awesome, as is the "sprayground" for little children at the pool.
