...my parents are considering the Hilton Hotel, St Petersberg... any thoughts? Whats the neighbourhood like? Anyone know the hotel? They don't drive, so are dependant on places with public transport. They like walking, dining and general sightseeing, but are ok about missing parks etc.

Thanks!

I live in St. Petersburg, Florida, and have been to that hotel. I would say that in order to see much in the way of attractions or dining that they would want to take a taxi around town. There are a number of things that are fairly close, but not really walking distance. There are a couple of museums in that downtown area, "the Pier" with it's restaurants and shops, Baywalk with its restaurants and shops and movie theater, and show/sports venues close by if anything is going on while they're there. But I don't think most of it would be doable just walking from the hotel. But a cheap taxi ride, certainly.
