What's also odd is that, from our point of view, there's no moment where Harry could find out that he had a son...

Oooo, what about Syndrome? Sucked into an aeroplane engine. Plus, just think of the ensuing chaos. A goose being sucked into the turbine brought down that plane that landed in the Hudson river. Just think what a person would do! The Incredibles didn't seem to pay much attention to the plane afterwards as well...
