I remember reading about ontological paradoxes on Wikipedia.

-nerd-

Same. That's where my love for it came... If you can love a paradox. Sounds weird to me...

I guess what I like about it is the idea that information appears from nowhere. There's no start point for it. It just exists...

I love weirdly interesting things like that. :goodvibes

I think another example they gave was from Back to the Future, when Marty plays Johnny B. Goode at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance, and Chuck Berry hears it and records it. The music comes from nowhere.

Stephen Moffat loves to use ontological paradoxes. Actually, the Doctor's and River's relationship is one whole ontological paradox! She tells him things he didn't know about (e.g. opening the TARDIS doors with a click), which he'll probably show her later on in his future, which is her past. Wow...

From Wikipedia:

In the film Back to the Future Marty plays Chuck Berry's future song Johnny B. Goode, which then is relayed to Chuck Berry, resulting in the song having no original creator. However, because time-travel seems to create alternates universes, it can be said that Chuck Berry of another universe is the creator. Also, after Marty leaves, his future mother Lorraine states that she likes the name Marty, making Marty's name a possible instance of the bootstrap paradox.

I want cheesecake.

I had strawberry cheesecake before. :')

Is it strange that I have a favourite paradox? It's an ontological paradox btw, also called a bootstrap paradox. Something that exists without a point of creation. For Doctor Who fans, the Easter Egg conversation in Blink is one. For non Doctor Who fans, here's an example:

A man comes across the plans to build a time machine. He builds it, and goes back in time, and ends up dropping the instructions somewhere, to where it is found by the previous him and completes the loop.

Like in HP3 when Harry saves himself from the Dementors?

And how Marty tells Goldie Wilson to run for Mayor so that's how he's Mayor in 1985.

I always say that about Marty giving himself his name. :')

Huh. I forgot about the part with Marty's name.
