What's on the grassy verge between the GF and the MK

While coming back on the resort launch one day, the driver took us pretty close to the shore. Right at the inlet where the water parade comes out there is a walkway to the MK. At the start of the walkway hidden behind some grasses appears to be a park bench and some nice lighting. It looks almost like a little picnic area. I just wondered what this was and is it possible to access it by foot. Anyone else notice this (it's probably also visible from the monorail)?

I think this might be the same spot that DH and I found a few years back. While waiting in a huge crowd at the boat launch to return from the MK one night, DH and I thought we would be real smarty pants and take the lovely path that appeared to wind all the way around to the GF. After walking and walking and walking, we finally end up at a dead-end. It's the canal where the evening boat show is stored and even though swimming it looked tempting, we both thought better of that. Maybe we aren't the only ones to have made that mistake and so Disney installed a bench and some lighting so that other weary, would be smarty pants can take a break before hanging their hands and walking all the way back to the boat dock.

That would be the very spot- I like your explanation as to why it's there- wonder if anyone else has any opinions or knows the real story?

It's a nice little walkway to nowhere. Originally, it was part of the "Walk Around the World" and was going to connect to the Grand Floridian. However, logistics prevented them from installing a bridge at the canal, so it ended up being a nice romantic nighttime walkway. It's been there for at least three years, probably about 5. The park bench has been replaced at least twice in the past two years... originally it was a semi-circle bench, then it was two straight benches, then it went back to the semi-circle bench.

Hmmmm. DW and I are looking for romantic places . How far of a walk is this?

I've read of people proposing out there. And I have seen deer over there on the beach once or twice in the past, very early in the morning.

It's a short walk, and is easily visible from the Monorail should you wish to check it out.


As for wedding proposals, somewhere in there is a brick that says "WILL YOU MARRY ME" not sure if there is a name attatched.
