Have you ever tried a perfume that just doesn't mix right with your chemistry?

For me, it's Vanilla Fields, and really, any vanilla fragrance. I LOVE vanilla, but I can't wear it because it just smells stale on me.

I also remember shopping with a friend when Poison was popular. She put it on and it smelled like wet grass on her! It was the strangest thing.

I have never tried it and NEVER will and can not stand the people who BATHE in Patouchli? It never fails that I am either in line with/sitting next to or anywhere near someone with this crap on.........apparently it must be cheap since anyone that wears it seems to use a whole bottle. One woman at work wears this stuff everyday and days that I work with her I actually put champhophenic under my nose so I smell that!

EWWWW....I hate Vanilla Fields....I have never worn it but it smells terrible on others that have...
My all time yuck perfume is Chantilly....

I haven't had problems wearing anything but I can't stand those really heavy scents at Bath and Body. They remind me of the Estee Lauder scents from the 70's and 80's.
I think it's because people bathe in them, use the powder and then put on the cologne so you can almost see the cloud of scent all around them as they enter the room. They overpower everything else. Yuk!

I can't do the sweet florals, like Estee Lauder's Beautiful. It's beautiful on other people, but yucky and heavy on me.

Sweet purfumes like Shalimar, work great for me. I cannot stand things like Eternity or other Calvin scents. They give me a headache.

Anything that smells like vanilla, and Elizabeth Arden's Red Door.

I got free samples of Soul Curve and it smelled like pee pee!!! EW!

smells like potting soil to me.

I don't think I've ever smelled Patchouli (sp?). Who makes it?

It's an essential oil, not a perfume. It's an old world scent like Ambergris, Sandalwood, etc.

CIARA! If I get near someone with that stuff on, it gives me a migraine! :faint:

Anything in a red bottle. I dont' care what it is, if its in a red bottle, its gonna stink.

Vanilla fields makes me smell like a candy apple!

Eternity - if I come within two feet of anyone wearing it I get a headache. I really can't believe people think it smells good.

I can't stand any perfume or cologne that any man or woman feels the need to douse themselves with it. Just a dab behind your ears and a little on your wrist is all it takes. Perfume is supposed to be something that someone smells as they get UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL to you, not something that announces your arrival 5 minutes before you get there and lingers around in the whole room 5 minutes after you are gone. I think people don't realize that much perfume literally gives other people headaches. And it's very unattractive and unbecoming.

Design. It smells so pretty in the bottle. On me, it smells like dirt.

Am_I_There_Yet: I'm with you. That perfume is disgusting to me. I used to work in a store that sold perfumes and I could not go anywhere near this one. I'd smell it, get nauseous, and be in need of some serious Advil.

Sadly, DKNY Be Delicious smells terrible on both me and my sister. On other people, it has a green apple scent. On us, it just smells terrible. I wish it didn't, because I love the bottle.

I agree. I don't even mind it if someone walks by and you can catch the merest smidge of a scent -- just enough to say, "Mmmm, what was that? That smells good!" No perfume smells good when someone took a bath in it!
