What's more American than Disney?!We Brave the 4th of July! TR LINK pg. 55!!!!!!!

Hi! :wave2: Came over from Stefy's pre-TR/ my TR. We went on the 4th of July in 2007 (arrived on the evening of the 4th and went right into the MK - what were we thinking? :confused3 But we waltzed right up to a great spot on Main Street to see the fireworks; just getting around after that was a nightmare!).

Anyway, we didn't find the crowds to be too bad, but boy was it hot. It probably wasn't actually much hotter than our late August/ September trips, but I think the higher crowds made it feel that way. I did really love though that the parks were open much later during that week in July than they are in late August/ September.

Re: the headgear, I like the black sparkly ears. But I would also recommend a tiara. I never leave my Disney hotel room without mine! :rotfl:

Yes! I totally agree about the clip/ponytail hitting the back of your head on a ride that you lean your head on! That's why I wear my messy bun WAY on top of my head! Hmm, I'm trying to find a pic...this one isn't the best because it's kind of falling but my hair is usually around this spot on my head!! Ugh, I'm so worried that my hair is not so long anymore and it will be hard to get it all up there this summer!

I SOOOOOO regret cutting my hair. The #1 reason why is because I can't pile all the hair on my head. I have this stubby ponytail now. Your hair looks like it is really a good length and you look good in it. But you seem to look good no matter what :)

I had so much fun wearing my bride ears on our honeymoon! I felt like a celebrity, getting congratulations all day long. Plus, I felt like it really helped for people me meet friends I made on the July thread...you couldn't really miss the ears!

Tom said, no way can I wear them again. He doesn't want me taking away from the people who are actually on their honeymoon and I agree. So I just went on the disneyshopping website and there are 2 possibilities. I'm thinking either the silver headband with the purple and blue veil OR just the plain sparkly minnie ears. They'll be my anniversary ears!

What do you guys think?

Ears with veil...

Minnie ears...

Hi Nikki!

About the 'ears' decision... I've seen silver ones like the black sequin ones in the parks..

Would those work? Or did you want to buy them before you got to WDW? :cutie:

Emma princess: xx

So the veiled ears say they are for girls so I'm not sure if they would fit you??? But I have to admit that I like those silver ears - A LOT!!!

I love the black ones hehe

I wanna buy the fuzzy black ones during the trip. Would I look trashy if I made myself a Minnie Mouse costume for Halloween?

Oh, I bought those fuzzy ones for my neice last time!

Oooh those are awesome, you should so go for them :thumbsup2

Great find disneybarbie :goodvibes

Yeah, I totally agree!

Yay!! Thanks for coming over. We're used to hot and crowded so I think we'll be okay.

Thank for the advice on the ears....decisions, decisions!! PLEASE check out my honeymoon TR while we wait for this one to get going...it's kind of boring at the moment but I promise, the honeymoon TR is fun, fun, fun!

Oh I remember when you cut your hair! It's still so short?! Don't forget, I chopped about a foot off of my hair after the wedding so it's not as pile-able as it used to be! It's not such a stubby ponytail anymore, though, so I think I'll be able to get it up easy enough.

But I was so happy because every night when we would get back to the room he would say something like, "Ugh, I LOVE Epcot!" or wherever we just got back from. It made me so happy! I was afraid he wouldn't like it and we'd have to break up!

Thats so funny, hatred of disney would definitetly be a deal breaker!!!

Like your adr choices, never heard of paradaiso going to check that out now...

vote for the veiled ears for prettiness and the black sparkly opnes for quirky coolness, and disneybarbie's suggestions cute too...tough decisions!!!

am now pondering dbf's response if i decide to don a pair of ears every time we set off to disney...he will have a heart attack!!! going to start ear investigations right away!!!

oh dear i ruined your qote and erased its highlighted yellow box, sorry!!! promise i wasn't purposely plagiarising!!!

and want to add a vote for french plaits!!! or do you guys call them french braids??? now i just have to figure out how to do them!!!!

Hey!! You voted for EVERY option of ears that was mentioned! You are no help at all!! :rotfl: Yes french braids and headband is a great combo! You can do it! I'm sure there's a how-to video on youtube or something!

By the way: We have an Official July 2010 thread going, if you want to join us over there!

Hey! Thanks for bumping my PTR!!

I think I'm going to go with the Silver ones. I'm still debating over whether to get them beforehand or just get them when we get there.

Really, I think being on any attraction is better than standing on the hot pavement in the 90 degree heat! I'm a fan of the TTA to cool off, as well as the inside shows, of course! My favorite probably being the American Adventure! Can't wait to see THAT one on a 4th of July trip! I'm going to be exploding with patriotism!

We've discussed a few more plans recently so I'll come back on tonight and update everyone and find some more pictures because this PTR is boring!!

Thank God we have this trip planned because the thought of it is the only thing getting me through this miserable, long, cold winter!

Looks like you will get hit with snow this weekend it s going just south of us or so the weather man says but I think it could still swing more north they are allways wrong.

I am with you cant wait until this winter is done with I cant stop thinking about this trip it seems like I have been waiting forever to go its been four years and will probibly be another four before I get to go again.

Oh there might be hope my DD16 is in her school band and there is talk of her school playing at disney in 2011 and I will tell the school if she goes I go. LOL she is first clarinet so chances are I will get to chaparone. who am I kidding I will go with or without the schools permission. LOL

Oh how great! I went twice with my high school choir and it was such a fantastic experience! We sang in Epcot!

More plans!!!

So we have really been talking up this trip since this winter is so long and cold. The hospital that Tom works for, which happens to be one of the largest hospitals in NYC, is about...oh, 700 million dollars in debt or something ridiculous like that and there is a good possibility that they will be closing. I'm doing this graduate work which TOTALLY blows. So making Disney plans is making us both as happy as we can be right now.

I made flight reservations yesterday finally! I asked Tom what he thought about taking the second flight out in the morning instead of the first and it was basically out of the question! "That's not what we do!" was his response. So 6:45am it is! (Even though the second flight is only an hour later!)

The reason I wanted the later flight was because we are always soooo beat by the afternoon on our first day. On our honeymoon, we literally had dinner at 'Ohana at 5pm and went right to sleep afterwards. Of course, we did have a wedding the night before but still!

Here is a picture of Tom on the very first day of our very first trip together in 2006. We took the first flight out and actually made it to Wishes! Here is Tom waiting for Spectro! Doesn't he look exhausted? But he looks happy!

Here's a picture of me tired too! I think this was from the same trip, maybe day 3. We were walking out of Epcot and I just couldn't go any further!

108055tiredsmall.JPG

We pretty much tried to repeat that first day every trip since because it was so magical but we keep forgetting...it was my first trip in 3 years, it was Tom's first trip ever, we were super excited...and we were 4 years younger! Each time we tried to do it again, we ended up back at the resort LONG before Wishes!

So instead of trying again this time, we made a new first day plan!

Day 1 - July 1, 2010
Arrive at POR around 10am. We hope our room will be ready but if it is not, we will drop our bags with bell services and take the boat to downtown disney! We've stayed at POR before but have never done that boat ride! Then we'll walk around, shop (get those ears!) and have lunch. Then hopefully, we can get into our room with enough time left for a quick rest and make it to Epcot for our 7:25 ADR at the Rose and Crown!!

And because I haven't nearly had enough pictures in this PTR yet...one for the road!

Reading all your planning makes our planning that much more exciting!!!! We will be there from July 3rd-11th at the CR. Lucky you on the wishes cruise for the 3rd. Any empty seats??:cool1:

Oh bless ya, I know exactly what you mean about arrival day. Which is why we don't count it as an official day, as we get there late afternoon and are just too exhausted to do a park.

Lol, I do love that TT ride pic :rotfl:

Your first day sounds great, not to strenuous and a nice relaxing boat ride too :thumbsup2

Hey, thanks for coming over! I saw you posted on the July thread too. Isn't the planning so much fun? As for the cruise....there is a possibility that there will be some seats available. How many are in your party? I can't promise anything but I will definitely keep you in mind.

Oh not to many...... just a lil crew of 5:scared1:

(5 total)......:rotfl:

Ages? I think it's "up to 10 adults" but with kids, there can be 12. I don't know, I'm going to have to call. Either way, still waiting to hear from my cousin.

Like I said earlier, our very first trip was in 2006. (When I say "our" I mean Tom's very first trip, our first trip together. It was my...oh, I think thirteenth maybe?!)

Anyway, we bought APs the summer 2005 (before prices went up). I guess that was kind of risky since I didn't even know if Tom would like it but I had high hopes. The plan was to go the very end of August because that's when I always used to go with my family growing up and it was a great time. Well plans changed around March when I was let go of my teaching job. :sad2:

It was the most stressful time of my life because, come June, I was offically jobless and it was the worst feeling in the world. I spent most of my time printing resumes and sending them to every school in a 60 mile radius. The thing about getting a teaching job is that most schools call for an interview.....you guessed it - the last week in August. The reason being that a lot of teachers hold out until the last possible minute to tell their districts that they can't come back. So as stupid as it was of me to still plan a trip when the future of my career was so unknown, it would have been reeeally stupid to keep it at the end of August.

So even after I was let go, I booked the trip for August 9-16. Seven nights at POR. This trip was my motivation to do everything I could to get a new job. I went on a few interviews and was eventualy hired as a 3-month leave replacement in a school just two towns over! Perfect! A 3-month contract wasn't ideal but the location was and my principal assured me that it would most likely lead to the whole year...and I've been there ever since! So everything ended up better than I could have imagined. Even though I was hired in July, I kept the dates of the trip and acually DID get many calls that last week in August, none of which I interviewed with because I really wanted to be in that school.

Anyway.....that was the start of the use of our APs which led to our NEXT summer trip happening way earlier than we wanted but I'm getting ahead of myself!! All I wanted to do was post a few pics from that first trip so here goes!

Some things never change.....

I don't have nearly as many pictures as I thought I did on this computer! Oh well!

Where is that 'secret' vehicle? Isn't it from Mr. Toad's or something like that???

Yeah...it's not there anymore, unfortunately. :sad2: It used to be in the back room of Exposition Hall with the mini theatre and all the cutouts. It was hidden behind a curtain.
