Since we're had to cancel our Thanksgiving week trip (my Mother passed away in October) I'm thinking about possibly going down Thursday-Sunday of MLK weekend (Jan. 13th-16th). I know that it will probably be bad on Saturday of that weekend...but what about Thurs & Friday.

Here's the schedule:

Thursday - fly & get there in the morning; go to the Studios in the pm
Friday - go to IOA & be there at opening; spend the whole day
Saturday - either go back to IOA or go to Sea World
Sunday - return home

What's the weather like? Can I go to IOA without staying onsite? Should we stay onsite at least one night?

Thanks in advance :thumbsup2

There is a bump in attendance during that weekend, but January for the most part is SLOW. When you go, there is a chance one of the water rides may be down for annual rehab. The weather is "cold" to some, but most consider it nice. 60/40 or 55/40 is about average.

Staying onsite is entirely up to you. The hotels are nice and close to the park. The unlimited express will also spoil you as you can ride some things over and over and over and over with under 10 minutes wait.

Can I jump in on your post and ask what the crowds are usually during the first week of January (but after Jan 2) please?

This depends on when New Years Day falls. If it falls on a Sun-Wed, the rest of the week will be busy. Not supercrazywhydidicomehere busy, but steady/moderate. If it falls on Th-Sat, then the weekend will also be busy, but it will drop off significantly after the following Monday.

I am also interested in 2nd week of january, tacking a couple days on after disney!
The second week of January is usually not too busy. It depends on when MLK weekend is.

We are making a long weekend at the end of January. Flying down Friday, Jan. 28 and coming back on Tuesday, Feb. 1. Staying at HRH and hoping the weather will be ok. Avg temps are high 60's and lows are high 40's.
Any info about going during this time of the year would be great!!!:confused3

New Years Eve is Friday and New Years day is Saturday in 2010-2011. So by your advice, I take it that the 5th will be a bit laid back.
