What's he doing on splash moutain??

I guess I never finished the point to my story.
I just wondered what that guys job was on splash. I understand it now. I know Disney does everything to prevent accidents, but I just freak out on splash and a few others......
1. Space mountain! It's so dark that I imagine we will crash into the other riders all the time.
2. Didn't they have this problem with screamin once? One rider smacked into the back of another? I'm all about keeping the different riders FAR AWAY from each other.
3. Matterhorn....Nuff said.

They have these things timed pretty well, but accidents happen. I am not sure what happened with BTMR, I think it may have been a track problem and not a crash problem, but I don't know.
Hey, these things happen everywhere but Disney actually has a great record. I do feel safe there.
I'm glad other people have spotted the flashlight guy on splash. I'm also glad he is there keeping his eye on the timing of the logs and making sure we all keep our tops on.:thumbsup2

And try to expect the scary face when he shines the flashlight up under his chin! :scared:

You're a good sport, Utahbelle! :thumbsup2

Too funny! What a hilarious thread :)

My absolute favourite picture from our trip is technically the worst pic we have! It was my first time on Splash...and it was awesome! After we got off, we went and looked at the ride pics. Our faces get progressively worse with each family member, and yep...I was in the back. I'm making THE MOST HIDEOUS face EVER!!! Full blown death scream, eyes smashed shut...triple chins and all!!!!:rotfl: Probably the single worst picture ever taken of me.
BUT
I can't help but love it, because it's the truest reminder of how much of a total BLAST we had! Every single time my hubby and I look at that picture, we end up in hysterics for about a half hour! It actually brings back the feeling of being on the ride...

The quality of the pic is terrible because hubby just took a picture of the screen...but it is so funny that it doesn't matter! :lmao:

That's funny! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks...I think so too :rotfl2:

It's funny, we agreed to keep the picture out of our normal picture sharing files...just because I don't know how anybody else could understand that such a bad picture could be our favourite... it's like this silly inside joke...that only us...and maybe my fellow Dis-Boarders, would get!

My favorite picture was also the one taken on Splash Mountain. My youngest (4 at the time) and myself were in the back of the log and we look terrified. Actually we were terrified. lol I hadn't realized that there was a "short" drop in the dark in the ride. After we went down that he cried pretty much the whole ride, I spent most of my time trying to calm him down. Oh well we survived. :thumbsup2

How does DS feel about "drop rides" now that time has passed?

He was never a fan of the big rides and still isn't. At West Edmonton Mall there is a small theme park he has been to a few times and will only go on the tame rides. His Dad got him on the boat ride (swings back and forth getting higher and higher but doesn't go all the way around) and he almost got sick on it. It has been 2 1/2 years since we went to Disneyland. I am not sure he is made for thrill rides but I am sure we will keep trying to get him on the bigger rides as he grows up.

To be honest I am not a big thrill ride either but I will usually try it at least once. Although, I haven't been on TOT yet. I hate elevators to begin with I can't imagine going on one that you know is going to drop. :scared1:

:) Just a little Splash story of my own

As a kid I refused to go on it because of the drop. My third trip to Disneyland she convinced me by letting me know that the drop in Space Mountain is much longer and steeper.

I ended up loving the ride, but told her that I didn't think she was right about the drops. So we went on Space Mountain again. We've laughed about that story for years now. :rotfl:

We went to a local theme park, with a flume ride, and I told DD, 3 at the time (and tall enough) that it was a big slippery dip in a log. She was good with that. But not with the small airplane ride -think like a small Dumbo ride, not as high, but in a plane!! She kept wanting the flume ride with a huge, steep drop - yes, bigger than Splash Mountain - and wouldn't go on this toddler ride!!!

Splash is one of my favorites!! I love it!! And I'm scared to death of heights! LOL Normally when we ride it my eyes are squeezed tight and I can't see anything but this last time we rode at night. No wait, everyone was at Fireworks/Fantasmic, we got on right away and we were going down the drop when the green fireworks were shooting over Main Street. I kept my eyes open that time!! OMG!!!! It was the neatest thing I've EVER seen!!!!!!! I think it's safe to say that nighttime is my favorite time.....but it's cold so I doubt we will do it in December! LOL
