What's going to be the next phenomenon?

I have actually seen this not only with inferno pins but with teleport pins where people just teleport around the room
SorcMickey is notorious for that...

Come now, I don't believe we've seen SorcMickey do that in a long time! ;)

Anyways here's this for an new trend...I'm not saying it's annoying or bad...I just don't seem to get it. I've seen people changing their skin colors and going into rooms announcing they're different colors to promote social change and to make sure every color is accepted. Wonderful we all need social reformation right? And yet I still don't understand the "blue people only" rooms that came out of it. I'm very confused, not that there isn't a time when I'm very confused about VMK!

Thanks for bringing that up, Fly. Something I forgot to add to my list: Princess only rooms. If you don't have the princess costume, you can't go in. Special treatment for girls... This is the kind of thing we see with all the new Disney shows and movies: girls. I'm just saying they better make some only boys clothing or I will give Disney a long e-mail about giving girls more clothing than boys. Did you know they get two or more pairs of shoes and we get one? At least we can buy lanyard shirts. Ha ha ha.
(end long, time wasting post)

Hey, I only got one pair of shoes. How did some girls get two? Then again, I pretty much accepted whatever clothing they put on you to begin with. You had to scroll through so much clothing, that I lost patience and thought I would never find the things I liked again, so I just clicked accept. But, I only got one pair of shoes. And silly me, I didn't even click on a hat to begin with. I had to go buy that explorer's hat.

:rotfl:
I started out wearing a minnie sweater :) so embarrasing...
I have found a new phenomenon, werewolves.

Ah yes, I walked into one of those about a week ago just to get a bit of amusement out of it. The Judge forced the "Cheater" to trade a bunch of items, there was a trial and everything (If you can even call it that, it was pretty much, "Did you cheat on him/her?" "No!" "Yes He/She did!" "What do you all say?" "Guilty!" "kk then, hand over all your items").
I think we are way off base with this one! I mean if we are going to teach kids about divorce we should tell the truth! I.E. he should have only had to give her half of his stuff!

P.S.

I am starting the new trend right now. I just got a new room that i will turn into a funerul home, so that people can morn players that have moved on. I give it about a week before it acctualy happens. And I'm offering ten to one odds any takers?

people who do all these merrying, and ''kids'' and all this should really grow up, i mean come on people, virtual girlfriends?

Not to burst anyone's bubble...but I think we've already seen the first of the "Divorce Court" or "Cheaters Courts" already a couple of weeks ago. In all it's quite amusing...but are we teaching anyone from my generation "proper social behavior," I think not.

I kind of wish the next phenomenon will be being nice to people...but apparently, that'll never happen (again) in VMK!

Not 100%. You cannot place ALL players together in this group of mean social misfits (not something I see it as...but instead a conclusion from your post).

As far as "teaching proper social behavior," instruction occurs in the classroom or educational realm, as well as in real life. It is extremely difficult to teach social behavior through an online game like VMK because of the lack of communication attributes such as tone of voice, eye contact, inflection, enunciation, and more. These things are important to understanding how individuals converse with one another. And, again as I have said in the past, VMK is a game...not the real world. We can't teach real world behavior through animated cartoons we can move.

However, this is not to say that we cannot serve as good role models by staying kind, honest, and helpful during game play. I think this is important because we all recognize how impressionable children are.

I have witnessed much kindness on VMK and encourage it non-stop. I have seen players help other players, players giving gifts and pins just to welcome a newbie, and more. While I do recognize that there is some negativity, it is not everywhere the entire time the game is open.

Are you guys for real? It is just a game, its not a class room, real life, a seminar on social behavior... I think we are over anylizing what is meant to be a fun and fictional escape from the norm. I suggest we put away the volumes of philosophy books till the summer is over and when we log on. and just enjoy the game, after all it is JUST A GAME!

I don't know if I've expressed this here on the Dis, but here's how I see VMK. Because of at it's very heart VMK is a big chat room where people of all ages can learn about each other and share their love of Disney. Add to the fact that you can hide behind any disguise you want...behind any name you want...and you can have as many identities as you want on VMK, it lets people experiement with different social behavior and how it effects and overall society.

There's no doubt that you've seen many different people taking on many different roles in the game. You have the leaders who take charge, make sure people are following the VMK values, and create interesting things to do in VMK. You have socialites who run around the game making new friends and nurture relationships throughout the kingdom. And there's the gamers who are out there to get on those top 10 lists. The list goes on and on of the more positive personalities to the more negative personalities like the scammers and cheaters.

VMK truly is a community...and when you have a fan base that plays the game at least 10 hours a week it can definately have an effect on your behavior in real life even if you don't admit it. I mean how many of us still type "too" instead of "two," and have now started to say things like "woot" in everyday casual conversation? I believe an in-depth study of the chat logs can reveal many things about American society...it just takes some thought, critical thinking, and little imagination.

Anyways back on topic...I think the future of VMK will involve the explosion of the "mery" and BF/GF. There will be a take over of the society by a small group of community leaders. And it will turn out to be like "Harrison Bergeron." Well...maybe not the coup and the egalitarian society...;)

ok there is way to much thinking going on! save that for real life, you seem to be a very intelagent individual. you should be putting that brain to use in a more useful way. Cure cancer, invent a cheeper way to power our cars, become a civil rights lawyer, anything. I think your wasting a lot of brain power on disecting the sociophilosophical ramifcations this Game may have. Althogught you pose some pretty intresting points. I usually just type it 2.

Today - I kid you not - I wandered into a 'doctors office' and one girl character was helping the other girl character give birth.

Synopsis
Patient: "I don't feel well"
Doc: "Have you had xoxo with a boy?"
P: "Yes"
D: "Then you are going to have a baby"

then the doc gave the patient a shot for the pain, and told her to push etc.

I thought it was just a doctor's office when I went in, but when I complained that my feet were hurting I got booted.

So there you have it. There is midwifery in VMK...

i talked to a boy today about a middle eastern hair ### with lots of girls he was trying to create!
