DH and I are visiting DLR with our 2 month old and 3 yr old. I have not been to DLR in 20 yrs :scared1: I am trying to bring myself up to speed and we are looking at hotels for the 12/7 and 12/8 and the prices are through the roof. Is anything going on that week that we should be aware of? Thanks so much!!

The holiday season at DLR is very popular - rightly so, because it's beautiful - and tends to drive up the prices for everything, including hotels. Last year was the busiest holiday season at DLR in a decade!

Thank you so much!! I wasn't sure if it was something special just that week. We'll prepare for crowds....

I am also going during that time, Dec 8-10. Do you really think it's going to be busy during the weekday? I am really hoping not!

I think you'll be fine during the week...at least that's what ALL the research I have done shows!:) Yes, the holiday season is very busy, but I think you picked a very good week to go, especially being during the week as opposed to the weekend. I'm more worried about our trip for the following week...a little too close to Christmas break for schools, but we're hoping for the best!:)

The hotels are less booked the following week than the week of December 6. The week of the 6th keeps getting busier and busier every year. It was dead when I went a few years ago, but busy last year and with many hotels booked up, I expect it to be pretty busy this year, too. Just have to go with the flow.

Good to know and interesting about the week of the 6th. And, yes, that's good advice...just "going with the flow". We just want to enjoy being there during the holiday season, something we've never done!

The 4th and 5th is Candlelight Processional weekend. And the week of the 6th is the back end of a big conference. I know this because our trip is the 6th - 10th. This is supposed to be very slow but there seems to be some opinions to the contrary.

There is a big pharmaceutical convention that has the entire convention center booked taking place 12/6 - 12/8. We are also going 12/7-12/14 and I am glad I didn't wait for rates to come down and went ahead and booked our offsite hotel a while back. There are just not a lot of rooms available right now.

So this brings back the often asked, rarely definitively answered question - does a convention fill up hotel rooms only or also the parks?
