My 4 year old wants DS wants a RC monster truck and TMNJ action figures

My 2 year old DD doesn't know what she wants, but we are thinking the Little People Disney Princess Castle

DD and DS both requested musical instruments -- drums and electric guitar. They also wanted iPads but we've already set down they have to earn at least half the money towards their own tablet. DS also wants Ninjago legos and DD is more into emoji pillows and posters.

A new American Girl Doll or AmGD stuff for my 6 year old

The Lego Dimensions Game for my 8 year old

The 6 year old also want a chemistry and biology lab, but that is a bit outside the budget, I'll probably get her some chem or bio sets and books though.

The 8 year old also wants a WiiU and a couple of games and legos

The 4 year old wants legos and superhero stuff

Skylanders Supercharger

This is similar to the Disney Infinity? Base with action figures that you can them put into the game yes? How do your 4 year old do playing that game?

My DS also asked for "science" stuff, but I don't really see anything that's appropriate for a 4 year old.

Yes it is. My 4 year old has been playing since he was either 2 1/2 or 3. He has gotten better as his hand eye coordination has improved, but he is fairly impressive with the xbox controller now. I think he plays better then me, other then jumping areas. It does help he has an older brother to help out as well.


There is some decent science stuff for 4 year olds as long as you don't mind messes. Magic Schoolbus has science kits which are great for about 4 to 7, they have a bunch of different experiments in them, that they do need help with, but work decently for the age range. Also Thames & Kosmos has a Kid's First line which looks doable for the younger ages depending on how interested they are in science. Educents also has a slimy squishy polymer bucket for that age group, which I think is what I'm getting my 4 year old as his science gift this year.

My 4 year old daughter wants princess stuff, particularly Sleeping Beauty. She also got a hold of an American Girl catalogue a couple days ago and now has it in her head that she wants one of those too.

My 2 year old son is harder. We already have so many toys passed down from the older ones. The only thing he's really into is tractors, and we have a bunch and I know grandparents are getting him tractor stuff since he's so into it. So I'm not sure about him.

My 10 month old probably won't get much. He doesn't know any different and he really doesn't need anything!

Oh and as a joint family present we got the kids a big set of Magformers. If you haven't used them, check them out! They are super fun, all of my kids LOVE them. And I love that the baby can even play with them and I don't have to worry about him choking on small pieces. They are super expensive but Amazon will often have good deals. We just got a set 40% off a few days ago.

DS4 is going with us to WDW for Xmas, so you would think that would be enough! And he'll be getting a new sibling this year but not quite sure when to tell him about that particular gift. But he has gotten really into Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and is asking for a plush Minnie and Donald to go with his Mickey. He just had a birthday and got new toys from his party guests so he's pretty happy with those at the moment. With a new LO on the way the last thing we need is more stuff in this house, and we won't have much room in our suitcases anyway. I'm hoping he'll be happy with the plushes, some stocking stuffers and maybe some new Mickey or Olaf pjs (and we're planning on taking him to Disney Springs to pick out more parts for his Mr. Potato Head, is that still there or has it become all Star Wars stuff?)

I got my now 6 year old an American Girl at 4, she was really too young to properly care for her. She loves her and the other ones she has since gotten, but if I had to do it again I'd have waited another year until she was 5 1/2 rather then 4 1/2.

We have magnatiles, not magformers, but the magnatiles are probably the most played with toy in our house, even more then legos. One kid or the other plays with them daily and has for the past 4 1/2 years since we got them. They all still love them even my 8 1/2 year old. I know that the magnatiles and magformers are also one of the most played with toys as my 4 1/2 year olds preschool. All the kids love them.

I know!!!! Legos are so expensive! And the ones he wants (pirate ship, deep sea exploration ship, deep sea base) are all $100 each! He really wants the star wars sand crawler. I had to veto that one - it's $300!!! For one lego toy! He can get 3 large ones for the price of that!

I like dress up clothes for the little ones. Especially pieces that lend themselves to imagination. A doctor outfit or a princess dress is fine, but we get a lot more value out of a sword, a tiara, a feather boa and a cape. Masks, hats, wigs... that kind of thing.

Amazon runs good specials on building toys. I got Lincoln logs at 50% off last year.
