Is there anything else to walk to while at RPH, like stores, restaurants, (not including Universal and IOA)?. My family is going in September for our first trip. We are taking a cab from the airport so we won't have a car. We may rent one one day.

It wouldn't be a very close walk to anything off site, and the streets are pretty busy. Why leave? It's a great complex, and walking to the parks, citywalk, and the other resorts is very easy.

Wel, theres citywalk, I dont know if you meant not citywalk when you said not US/IOA. Lots of restaurants, stores and some street entertainment there. We love to just wander around citywalk at night and look aroud.

You can grab a taxi right out in front of the hotel (by doors you drove up to when you arrived)A 5 minute taxi ride takes you over to International Drive. First, go to the lobby concierge desk at RPR and ask for a trolley schedule. I believe you can also buy trolley tickets right there too? When we were there, you had a choice of a certain amount of tickets or an all-day trolley pass. The schedule also lists different restaurants, attractions, etc. that are at the different stops. Grab a taxi out in front of the hotel. If you don't really have a set place in mind, the shortest ride is probably to Wet n' Wild. Get dropped off there and just walk up and down the street, or find a nearby trolley stop and take that farther up/down the street somewhere. Warning!!!! It looks fairly close to just walk from RPR to Int'l Dr. DON'T!!! Some of the way does not have sidewalk and you end up having to cross a very busy road! The sidewalks are also not very wide and we didn't find it at all relaxing like we thought we would!!
Also, to get a taxi back to RPR from Int'l Dr., you actually have to be located somewhere permanent such as a restaurant or hotel. My husband actually had to go into a hotel and ask to use their phone as the taxi co. wouldn't accept cellphone calls. Hope this info helps!

I just found this site for Int'l Dr. It'll give you some more info on what's there.

The last time we were at RPH we decided to take a walk to find some local shops. It was a nightmare!
As soon as you get outside the grounds there is no pavement (sidewalk) to walk on and the traffic is fairly heavy. We had two young kids and didn't enjoy the experience at all.
My advice, get a taxi!

That's exactly what we encountered! It looks like a short walk, but like you said, with no sidewalks and heavy traffic it's a nightmare! And our boys were in their teens!!! The taxi over to Wet n' Wild only cost us a total of about $5. That was well worth it to us! And the taxis are so convenient since they are already lined up in front of RPR. The bellman just whistles and they're right there for you. We took a day completely away from the parks and checked out stores and even played mini golf at one of the places we came across. The trolley is a fun way to see the whole drive too. If you see something interesting, just pull the cord and it'll stop to let you off.

Agree, there's nothing near the RPR.
You could walk thru City walk, thru the parking garage, and walk across Kirkman Road to the shopping center. There's the Ale House, Kobe Japanese restaurant, Golden Coral, Burger King, Walgreens and TGIFridays. The walk will take 30 minutes. If you have the time and you're not dragging kids, it can be done.

Most of the stuff on I-Drive is restaurants, t-shirt shops, and little stuff.

The good shops are at the premium outlet mall located next to Dixie Stampede. This is also where the bus terminal is that can take you to Busch Gardens Tampa. Take I-4 to the 535 and go 1 block east.
