What year was "big hair" the biggest?

The 80s is always called the "big hair" decade (and with good reason!,). I am wondering what particular year you think was the peak of big-ness! Looking back at family pictures, there was all kinds of "big hair". Wide, permed, crazy, teaded. Quite frankly, my hair was "tallest" in 1992. (Technically just my bangs, which I measured to be over 6 inches, and cemented with a half can of hairspray Every Day.ugh.)
What do you remember of the "Big Hair era"? What year do you think was the Biggest?

I think the "Peak" was 1986.

I think you need to go further back in time. The bangs may have been big in the late 80's early 90's, but overall hair volume was probably much greater in the 60's. I was just looking at some pictures of my mother and aunts from back then, it was pretty big.

About 1983 I let a young woman who was going to Cosmetology school bleach my hair and give me a shaggy Rod Stewart look. That's probably why I have so little hair today.

It had to be between the 60's and the 80's

I had a boss in 1979 that had the biggest hair I've ever seen. Very tall beehive, swirled, teased, she was the first person to every jokingly mention to me the expression: "The higher the hair the closer to God." She had a good sense of humor about it.
