So, DH and I are headed out to Oklahoma for four months for the rest of his pilot training. (Woohoo, we're out of Mississippi!) Most of our stuff is going to Washington State to sit in storage until we get there in late June. (The Air Force won't move it to Oklahoma because it's a TDY, not a PCS.) So I have the ultimately fun task of deciding what we can live without for four months. I can take whatever I can fit in the SUV, around the cats' cage.

DH left yesterday, taking the all-important TV, X-BOX, George Foreman grill, clock, halogen lamp, iron, his clothes and uniforms and pilot gear, and a big box of the eBay stuff. (Spring and graduation stuff that I need to sell while there or wait until next year.)

What else do we need? I'm afraid of forgetting something important! (I tried to convince DH the washer and dryer would fit in the SUV...oh, how I'll miss those!)

they have those cute little ones now for next to nothing....good thing for your george grill........he would go with me too......your favorite plants so they won't die alone .....and lonely.......any videos or your favorite movies to watch??????? plenty of addresses so you can have them to write to......unless of course they are on the computer.......dont' forget us.......we need to go too........good luck

microwave, blender, toaster, utensils, coffee pot, plates, bowls, cups, cooking utensils, knives... is it just the two of you? If so you wont need a whole lot.

You could always go with paper plates and plastic spoons if nothing else.

Obvious things like bedding, clothes, shoes. Any athletic gear you might want in the Spring/Summer. A few framed photographs to make the place homier.

Of course you all are going! :teeth: However, I think we may have to bite the bullet and get dial-up there, which will be so sad...

And yes, it's the two of us (and the cats!) so we don't need much. I'm just trying to get all the ideas I can so I make sure I don't forget anything!

When I went on a short stay with hubby#1 I asked a friend who was an experienced Army wife what to take and what to send on to the permanent assignment. She said not to pack anything I could pick up cheaply at a surplus or secondhand store. She said she always had luck finding pots and pans and even dishes that she could then donate back to the store where she got 'em or pass 'em on to the next young family who arrived. I took her advice and managed just fine. BTW, with the new cheap microwaves they have now I'd wait and buy one for $40 or so rather than take up valuable space. Take the stereo equipment and your craft or exercise supplies instead.

Have fun and happy adventure in Oklahoma.
