What would you splurge on? - Updated With First Purchase

I also have the 60mm 2.8 and love it. I learned macro on the original 55marco from Nikon so the focal length was good for me. I still have that lens and will use every once and a while.

Do you shoot critters and the like, or just non-living/non-creepy things with your macro lens? If you do, do you find that you have to get too close with the 60mm to the point where a bug will leave by the time you are ready to shoot it?

And by the way you can send me the money and I will do the same thing Mark offered. The reason you should send to me is that at least I will be taking the pictures with Nikon not Canon. Gotta keep it in the family girl!!!!

VERY good point, I hadn't thought about that. Unless Mark can bribe me with something, I may have to send the cash your way. :lmao:

While I truly think it is cool to see the hair on an bee's rear end, I have no interest in taking that picture. I tend to shoot things. I have a picture hanging in my office. It was taken 30 years ago of my inside of my grandfather's pocket watch with the back off I took with my 55mm macro. I do not have the negative anymore and the watch was destroyed in a fire two years later. The picture is ok, but the memory is as mastercard says is priceless!

You know this is what I love about photography! You are only limited by your creativity. You can pursue what YOU like.

Well I think I've decided, the 60mm it is. I'll still have a "micro" lens and will hopefully be able to get a little nicer one...or who knows, maybe even a new one!

I think I'll steer clear of the bugs...if I feel like taking pictures of hair on a bee's rear end...maybe I'll wait until the bee is dead :)

You know you could rent each one for the day. It is reasonable around here. Play with each one then decide.
