What would you say is the best age to take a little girl to Disney?

I have been taking DS17 to Disney World since he was 5. At first it was every other year and then we moved to Florida and it became a yearly trip. Each trip has been different in what DS was interested in.

DD came along when DS was 13. She is currently 3 will be 4 in December. She has gone to Disney at 22 months and almost 3. We are not going to Disney this year.

I was just curious at what age people think is the "perfect" age for a girl.

It depends on the parent and the kid. Some people think that a baby is the right age. Me...can't imagine dealing with a baby in DW (for my own sanity LOL). The way my 9 year old's emotional swings are going these days, the teen years won't be bunches of fun either LOL.

We took DD (and the boys) when DD was 7 1/2 and in 2nd grade. She was never really into Princesses in the first place, or Mickey, so we never had the burning urge to get her there before she was "too old" to believe they were real (which was probably moot anyway since I don't think that ANY of my kids have ever thought 6-ft mice and animals were real).

Now she is 9, and I think she will LOVE it! Since we have been once, she will know what to expect, and she has just recently declared that her fave Princess is Belle, which was GREAT considering that was DH and my First "date" movie ever and holds special meaning for us ( I had never heard the story, so one day my boyfriend (DH ) told it to me, and the movie came out about a year later...), and we also have fastpasses for BOG lunch.

So, for us...9 is PERFECT!!!!

Took my DD twins when they were 3,5,11 and 12. Look forward to going when they are teens and kind of wish I would have split and took them when they were 8 or 9.
The reason I say any is the different experiences. A 3 yo has no line between reality and imagination. Great in its own way. At 5 the line has blurred some but they can do a few of the thrill rides because they are likely over 40 inches (Splash Mountain, Soarin etc.). At 11 it was just a great trip. Still have some of that child in them but can ride anddo everything (plus walk on their own). When 12 we took the 5 yo DGD and so we scaled back some of what we did when 11 but still a solid trip. As a teen we willl likely be planning the trip together.
Don't know if that answered your question but I have thoroughly enjoyed all the different experiences.

I mostly just asked for conversations sake. DH and I have no intentions of stopping our visits to Disney World any time soon.

I remember when DS was 5 and he met Buzz Lightyear. THE Buzz Lightyear! He met his hero, live in person. It was all he could talk about for days.

DD doesn't remember her trips. She likes looking at the pictures though. She loved showing the princesses her braid. Her and Rapunzel compared. LOL I go mostly for my memories, not theirs.

To me one good thing about the tweens (10-12) is they can do everything and have pretty much conquered most of their fears of rides and at the same time they still want to do things with their parents.

To me there are two prime ages for visits, and that is why I think that Disney is a trip that each family should make twice. Unless, of course finances allow more trips - oh you lucky, lucky people!

One trip would be between 4-8 years of age I'd say. Of course, it depends on the family and the child. This is the most magical trip, especially if you have Mickey or princess lovers. The kids will have a blast but they may not remember everything. However the parents will always remember those special moments, like seeing them see the castle for the first time, etc. This is the trip that we are currently planning for our family, girls will be 6.5 and 6 weeks shy of 4 at travel and I'm so excited!

The other trip would be between 12-16 years old, again depending on the family and child. This would be a trip where the magic is less but the fun is still there, the rides will be more "adult" and the memories made will likely be remembered in greater detail by the kids.

But lately she has been wanting to watch Tangled and Brave a lot. She is very into animals so she is more of a Lion King and Brother Bear fan. I know she would LOVE Animal Kingdom right now. She adores going to the zoo and seeing the animals.

In our family. anything over 6mo is good to go. We however go fairly often and know there will be many more trips in their future. If I was planning a trip just for them, then 3 is the age I think they really start to get it on their own accord.For a perfect fun age, I pick 5. Old enough for many of the big rides, but still love the little kid stuff and for many kids, they really believe in the characters at that age. Mine didn't but sure did love them at that age.

That's very true. That's why I added any age. I mean when DS was 8 months he LOVED the characters. It was awesome.

Me I loved and still love Cinderella belle etc. I would love to have a little girl to love that w me lol but I love that DS loves disney and I hope it stays that way lol

If it were a once-in-a-lifetime trip, then around 8 or 9. That's the trip I remember having the most fun with family. If you plan on going again, then it doesn't matter to me. The younger, the better, in that case.
