What would you say is a good price from Boston to Orlando in August

Last year I book last minute trip 30 days out for our August trip and paid over $200 with connections and horrid times, however I am planning early this year and right now Delta Song has $185.00 direct flights out of Logan for the times we want, is this a good price or should I hold out for lower price for August. Thanks for any advice.

We are flying Song out of Boston in a couple of weeks. I had been checking rates and found that within a couple of days of Southwest releasing their dates to our travel dates, Song's prices went down a bit. We ended up paying $129. The rate you have now is pretty good, so I dont' know if it is worth taking the chance that rates might go down. I use the rule that a rate around $175 for non-stop from either Boston or Manchester NH is good (I used to just look for under $200, but now can usually do better than that).

Last August I flew from MHT to Orlando for $49.00 each way on Southwest. Thay always have that rate come summertime. Can't beat it, although Song and Jet Blue also have really low fares $79.00 out of Logan.

I booked Song out of Boston for August 2005 at $155 per person RT (direct). I'm not sure if it will go any lower, but I'm not the type to wait until the last minute and see. The price was pretty good (not the $49 each way I was hoping for, but not too bad), I could pick my seats at the time of booking and I could get the flight times I wanted. I figure if they go down substantially, I can get the price difference in the form of a voucher.

JetBlue is currently showing $79.00 one way per person for Aug dates, though at this point, what you are getting on Song is comparable. I heard on the news that JetBlue is adding more flights to Orlando starting in May; perhaps they may have lower fares then.

Last August I paid $235 per persont r/t trip from Logan to Orlando on Song. We're paying $150 this June but I booked that awhile ago. Anything I can get for less than $200 is terrific.

I agree with the other posters who say, generally, anything under $200/RT direct from BOS to MCO is "good". Anything under that is even better. I've been keeping an eye on airfare for early July, on Song. (We have vouchers to use from Delta/Song, so I'm not even pricing other airlines). So far the lowest it's been is $155, and currently it's $165, which still is pretty good. I think we always have that fear that the minute we buy our airfare, the rates will drop. lol

I usually end up spending somewhere between $150-$175 for RT tickets. It seems like prices can jump (both up and down) regularly so when I find good rates (I'm a teacher so I can only travel during "peak" times) I jump on them.

This is what I also do. I've also seen JetBlue at the SouthWest fare. My problem with SouthWest is the $49 fare out of MHT goes super fast. I've had more last minute luck at JetBlue. Last year I found JetBlue prices much cheaper than Songs however this year perhaps with the new Delta price structure things have been equal. We are flying Song this May at the $155 fare only because my delay in booking made me miss an even cheaper fare. Also remember if you book and the price goes down they will offer you a credit. I've done this on JetBlue a lot. Delta used to make you come in to apply your credit ceritifcate however I'm not sure that Song makes you do this perhaps it's a credit to your acct like JetBlue? Someone else will have to speak to that question.

We're going from BOS to MCO and back on Song the last two weeks of July. I booked the tix at the 330 day window and with taxes paid $143 roundtrip. I found out in December that we need to add one more person to our party and the best fares are in the $165 range if we are flexible and just over $200 if they fly on our flights. When I look at seat availability the planes are still wide open, so I'm going to wait to see if a fare sale comes up between now and May before booking. I'll keep an eye on seat availability too, because if the planes get pretty full Song won't discount at all from that point forward.

I've found that JetBlue can often provide a cheaper flight at the same leave/arrive times as Song so I always cross shop them for flights. Just last week, my daughter flew back to college in the Orlando area on Friday the 7th and Song wanted $199 one way for all Friday flights (and $65 for Saturday flights, but my daughter needed to be back by Friday night) for planes that were pretty empty. JetBlue had fares from $69 to $99 available depending on flight on Friday, so we sent her via JetBlue.
