What would you reply when you tell someone your going on a Disney cruise and they reply saying ...

Finding a good price on DCL is like finding treasure -- you grab the reservation and thank your lucky stars. Otherwise, you need to mortgage your house and sell your car to afford any of the new itineraries. Once we branched out and started pricing other cruise lines, we realized how foolish we had been. Disney isn't the only one that goes to those ports. And for their pricing, I can do 2-3 other cruises on other lines!
True. What Ive found is that the service and food isnt better on dcl its actually worse. I will say dcl has the best teen clubs. If carnival is an example of other cruiselines teen clubs then dcl is much better. For that reason we will probably stick with dcl for the next few years, but only when I get a good price. I will no longer be fooled into thinking dcl does everything better because other then the kids programming I dont see it. In fact Carnival has exceeded dcl in many areas.
As far as what people think of my vacation choices. I could care less.

We found the food on Princess and Holland America to be top notch. Their buffet food is right on level with Disney's MDR offerings. NCL had the worst offerings on Breakaway -- a lot of repetitive food day after day. Carnival's food surprised us -- and their free options with Blue Iguana and Guy's were awesome.

I spent about a year in junior high school worried about whether my interests were "mature" enough. Then I realized that it's more fun (and probably more mature) to enjoy what I enjoy and not worry about what other people think. (Re-reading this, I realized it's open to misinterpretation that I'm criticizing the OP, which was not my intent. My point is that I think the person who made the 5 year old comment to the OP's partner needs to get over themselves and stop worrying about whether his co-worker's interest is mature enough.)

Given the time to reflect on the "what are you 5" comment the OP posted, I think I would actually turn it around. As the mom of a 4 year old, I see how present my son is in any situation and how much he appreciate and takes joy in life. If someone thinks I have achieved the level of childlike wonder and enjoyment of a 5 year old, then that is a compliment to me. Also, Mickey is fun. So pbbbllt! (raspberry noise).
