Hi,
A while back I posted about using my RCI timeshare for my accomodation and buying tickets/flights seperately. However:rolleyes1 I have been having a nosey at Disney Hotels and Virgin Holidays (about the same cost as using timeshare).
If we stayed in a Disney Hotel would we really need a car???
Would you prefer Disney Hotel over a Virgin Holiday???
Disney is a bit more expensive - about £900 - is it worth it??
We were looking at 'The Enclave Suites' with Virgin and 'Port Orleans' for Disney, with 14 day Disney Passes.
Any Advice??

I wouldn't necessarily choose a Disney hotel, but if it's a choice between the Enclave Suites or Port Orleans, then I'd opt for the latter. The Enclave Suites on I-Drive is where we stayed during our first trip in 1992 and, whilst it was a reasonably good choice back then, it's definitely more of a budget category choice these days. Is the Disney option DIY? It's almost always cheaper to do things that way than by opting for a package. You don't necessarily need a car staying onsite, but I wouldn't want to be without one. What else will you want to do?

Thanks for the reply.
Our kids will be 7yrs and 4yrs old when we go. We thought we would just do the Disney parks this time round, rather than try and fit all the others in.
After some of the reviews on 'THE ENCLAVE SUITES' I agree with you.
I thought it might be ok seems as its through Virgin, but obviously not.
On our Dates next year we get the free DDP if we stay on site so that was the reason why I was considering it.
We are just a bit stuck as to which way to do it:confused3

If you choose to stay on site you do not necessarily need to have a car, but many of us hire one irrespective of where we are staying. Having your own transport for me is a must have, it just gives you so much more flexibility in getting around and means you can visit shopping malls and places outside WDW much easier.

Have you considered a split stay? Would you want to stay on site for the whole holiday?
Staying on site isn't just about the quality of the hotel, you could in fact argue that the actual quality of the rooms aren't necessarily a higher standard (depending on where you stay). Location though is a big plus and many of the on-site properties are located close to a theme park making them very attractive options.
In your position I would generally go with the better quality of accomodation, I would for example prefer a five star hotel or suite off-site than a three star hotel on-site, but that's just me.

All of us do things differently, the good thing is there is so many different ways to plan your holiday.
It is also common to book flights, car hire, park tickets etc independantly as you can save money doing it that way.
You just have to find your way, decide on where you want to stay and then look at the best deal - but I would personally recommend you hire a car.
