What would you guess this chihuahua is mixed with?

I have been looking for a small dog for my grandson and the only dogs at the kennels around here are pit bulls.
I know, pit bulls are not mean if you train them right, but I have heard too many stories about pit bulls losing it and my grandson will not be at the biting end of a pit bull.
I do want either a rescue dog or a dog from someone who's female dog had a little accident, I won't pay the crazy prices that some pet stores want for puppy mill puppies.

There's a two year old chihuahua mix in Meriden on craigslist. It's a female. There is a $50 re-homing fee. Wow, though, there's not much on your craigslist compared to ours, as far as pets go.

We are checking petfinder. I don't think they bred them on purpose. Apparently the mother had been hanging around and the father got a hold of her.

I don't think chihuahuas are supposed to be good kid dogs either. I would do some research before I adopted a chi mix too.

She looks more like a rat terrier then a chihuahua. That dog looks just like our dog's sire. That coloring is a little unusual for a rat terrier but is not unheard of. Rat Terriers are often confused with Chihuahuas. It is possible the puppies will look something like this

My vet thinks my dog (in avatar) is part chihuahua & beagle w/ maybe some yellow lab mixed in. She is two yrs old & only 20 lbs of pure sweetness!
