Ok so we are going on the dining plan, our dilemma is as follows. I am wondering what would you do?

1. Stretch out meals and pay for kids meals, saving thier credits for adult meals

2. Just pay for the other meals planned out of pocket, and use the credits for kids and adults.

I guess I am wondering if they will allow us to do the first, and I dont want to confuse the poor waiters, but I'd like to make our money last. Not to mention has dinsey caught on and as of Aug 21, will they sepearate the credits? LOL God my mind never stops

Do what you feel is right. For everyone its different! When we went in May I payed OOP for dd4 meals and or shared with her and therefore used her credits for adult meals, the CM at the check in desk at ASMo actually suggested it to us to maximize the plans benefit. Personally, in the end it is your personal decision, I think if Disney had a problem with it they would have changed it by now. So I had no problems with doing this but some people do think it is fraudelent or scamming the system.

It's a great play. If you use option 2, you will save your sanity.

I would not be comfortable using a child's credit for an adult meal so I would pay out of pocket for whatever is not covered on the plan. I know others feel differently, but I believe that you don't have to take advantage of a loophole just because a loophole exists. In fact, I really wish Disney would fix this issue (if they haven't already).

I will be very surprised if they fix it - the "problem" has been around for over 10 years and people have been advised by CMs over those years to use it to their advantage. It seems an awful long time for Disney to have ignored it and only now decide to take action - nothing special about now except the dining itself is free instead of the room discounts or other package discounts on dining plans which end up being about the same amount of money.

If you decide to use the credits for only the adult meals, it is really easy to pay out of pocket for the kids meals.

When I went last year on the silver plan, we went out with a couple of friends of mine that weren't on the plan, we told our waitress that two of us were using wishes (credits) and the other two were not, she was still able to put it all on one bill.

If you just let him or her know in advance they won't have a problem charging you for the kids meals and using your credits for yourselves.

I voted for paying for the kids and using the credits for adult meals.
If the powers that be had a problem with it they would have fixed it a LONG time ago, this was happening way before this plan ever went into effect.

They are making more $$ from you buying your kids things in the gift shops etc, then they do on the difference between an adult meal and a kids meal.
Besides they are giving it away and still making $$, think of all the people (maybe you included) that didn't even have a trip planned and now they do cause of the free dining plan!

What adult meals are you planning on using the credits for? I'm telling you, there is WAY more food involved than anybody can eat. If you start stretching out credits, you will probably find that you have credits left over that you never used.

Unless you have a detailed plan on what they are going to be used on where, there is no way I can answer this poll.

With this new dining plan, do you have to use 2 regular credits for a sit down Table Service restaurant?

If so, maybe the OP was planning on using the kids credit so they could eat at more TS restaurants. (just my guess)

I was having the same dilemma. Then, I finally just said forget it. It is far too much stress and planning and explaining and worrying. I am just going to use the credits as intended by the plan regardless of loopholes. We'll pay out of pocket if we want to do other meals. It wasn't worth my sanity. I just want to have fun and enjoy.

One credit is good for an appetizer, an entree, a dessert, and a non-alcoholic beverage. That much food will feed me, my husband, and our dog if we were allowed to take him.

From what I understand, one credit is good for Counter Service only, you have to use 2 for Table Service, Im not 100% sure on this though, im only going on what I have read about it.

That is why I thought the OP wanted to use the kids credits....to eat at TS restaurants a few times instead of CS all the time.

Edited to add, I just looked and it is one TS, one CS and one snack per day.
Maybe the OP planned on two TS in one day, a breakfast Character meal and a dinner? I don't know

You get 1 table service, 1 counter service and 1 snack per person/per day. Each TS is 1 credit except for a handful of restaurants such as Brown Derby which is more expensive thus you'd have to used 2 TS credits.

I guess you could use the "saved" childs TS credit for more TS meals per day, ie; a TS character breakfast and a TS dinner.

Do whatever you feel. I'm sure the Disney people are smart enough to have thought about all the possibilities ("loopholes") that any of us could think of. And as stated, they are making TONS of $$$ in any case.

we're doing option 1.. DD wont eat all that much anyways, and alot of our meals are character, so she REALLY wont be eating. Hopefully WDW has good Mac N Cheese!! :teeth:

That is what we decided on, too. I found I was stressing so much over the meals, and worrying about if we'd be allowed to use our credits for all adult meals, etc. I finally just gave myself a mental shake and thought, "Come on! The Dining plan is FREE!! If you pay for a meal here and there, you are still getting a great deal and saving big bucks- lighten up!!" So, we will end up paying about $40 OOP, and I think that's a GREAT budget for 8 days worth of meals.

We have more ADR's than we have credits, we're just going to pay cash for the cheapest meals and use the dining plan for the ones that will be the most.

I am planning to mix it up a little bit!!! Most meals we will just use the credits adult for adult and kid for kid---but IF it is still possible when we go to 2 of the sit down resturants I would like to pay OOP for my 2 DD's kids meals so that the whole family can enjoy a lunch at CP on our last day !!! If not we will just pay OOP for anything extra--HEY 95% of the meals are free I'm not going to skimp out on a meal or 2 because I have to pay WHAT A GREAT DEAL( I'm sure this is how Disney wants me to think!!) 52 more days and I'll let you know!! :goodvibes

If people keep playing these games with "adult" vs "child" credits, they will ruin it for everybody else. I would use child credits for the children and adult credits for the adults.

Yeah after 10 years of these games you guys are gonna ruin it!! LOL!Sorry just could not resist, If you decide to use or not to use its a personal choice. Just funny to me how some think this is a "new" plan the premium plans have been around forever and used this way for a long time too.

I suppose its my own fault, I want to eat at soo many places and I dont want to cancel any of them. Like one day for lunch Le Cleier and for dinner Coral Reef, i want to eat at CR sooo bad! LOL
I was jsut trying to stretch out those TS
