Ok- here is the guestion of the day...

My family is sailing on the Mariner- leaving out of Port Canaveral on Sunday, October 31. This will be the 1st cruise that isn't DCL so we are nervous.

Saturday, October 30, is my DH's 42nd birthday.
Here are the 3 choices...
1- drive down Friday- after school 3:00. It takes us about 6 hours to get to Orlando but lose an hour so it will be about 10ish before we arrive. Do we check into a WDW hotel and do a day at the parks (we have annual passes) and then get up Sunday and go to the Port- pay $70 for parking
2- drive down Saturday-driving 6 hours on his actual b-day- check into Ron Jon-pay $75 for the room- and use the water areas and go see a movie- and then drive over to the port and pay $70 to park
3- drive down Friday after school- check into WDW- do the parks on Saturday- leave Saturday evening- to arrive at the Radisson- where we have always stayed with no problems- and then take the shuttle to the port on Sunday- not paying for parking.

Keep in mind- that we don't have unlimited funds so the less we spend on necessities- the more $$ we have for fun things.

What would you do- I want this to be a surprise for him.

I like option 1. Option 3 would be my next choice but I would prefer the 2nd night in WDW and avoiding having to pack up and move to another hotel for just 1 night. Id only do that if money was really tight and avoiding the parking fee was necessary.

Have you checked with Ron Jon about leaving the car there?
Have you ehecked with the WDW hotels about leaving the car there and maybe taking Disney transportation?

If Ron Jon let's you keep the care there I would drive down Friday night - check into Ron Jon for two nights - enjoy the resort all day Saturday - go to dinner at Grills Saturday night to celebrate DH's birthday and watch the ships leave - and then cruise on Sunday!

What does / would your DH think of any of the proposals? I am not a fan of the parks on weekends - they always seem more crowded to me so I would either opt to leave on Saturday or leave on Friday and have some beach time (now coming from the cold and snowy north beach time appeals to me but since you live so close to the ocean it is routine for you). If I knew I was going on a cruise it would not bother me at all to sit in a car and drive 6 hours on my birthday...but that again is me.
