The players: Mom and Dad (mid-70s); Sister and niece(12); Me, DH, DD13 and DS10

We have reservations for 3 1BR villas at the Beach Club (no 2BDs available for our timeframe with the 7 for 4 Visa deal). There is availability at BWV (two 2BDs) for our stay. Or we could get 3 concierge rooms at the YC or BC. The kids love the idea of SAB. I love the idea of a 2 BR. What would you do? I've stayed at the Beach Club and Yacht club in a regular room so know what to expect there. Not too familiar with BWV. Advice?? Thanks!

Reserve the 2BR at BWV and wait list at BCV. Or stay where you are and wait list. I think most wait lists come through except at peak times or late notice.

We are not renting these rooms as DVC members - we're going on the 7 for 4 Visa deal. Can anyone be waitlisted?

2 BR are rarely available for regular reservations discounts. I am surprised you can get them at BWV.

You can't waitlist as a non-DVC member. The best you can do is periodically call back and see if BCV is open to you.

Is there a significant price difference in your various options?

While two 2 bedrooms will be nice for your family of 4, the three 1 bedrooms will be equally nice if not nicer for the parents and the sister. I am assuming, 1 unit per family.

Having 1 unit per family is very nice for privacy. I would pick the 1 bedroom villas over the concierge rooms, if only for the extra room, laundry, kitchen, king bed and jacuzzi in each villa.

If the kids like Stormalong Bay that much, the cruelest thing you could do would be to stay at BWV and have them look longingly across Crescent Lake at the place they'd rather be.

I'd keep your 3 1BR, and call occasionally to see if the 2BR opens up. Keep in mind, there is no guarantee that the 3 1BR's will be close to each other.

Thanks for the advice. I agree that the 1br will ge great for mom and dad, and sis and niece; not as great for us since dd13 and ds10 are NOT interested in sharing a bed (and I would not expect that at their ages). It would probably be hard for them to see SAB so close but yet so far! How is the pool at BWV? Any other advantages at BWV I could use to help us make a decision? We are going on the Grand Gathering program which is supposed to help ensure that our rooms are located near each other. Any other input?

I'd stay at the BCV and go with the 1 bedrooms - as others have already posted, if the kids have their hearts set on SAB, no sense staying at BWV.

Maybe your DD would rather share a bed with her cousin than her brother? I'm thinking of the queen -ized pullout in the living room of your sister's unit. Of course, I am assuming that your niece and DD get along well and it is OK with you for her to sleep in another room (which may or may not be close to your room).

If that is not workable, you might consider bringing along an aero bed or similar for one of the kids.

Best wishes -

I would go for the two 2 bedrooms at BWV (of course it is my favorite resort). But for you and your 2 children, you will be more comfortable in a 2 bedroom. I love the pool at BWV and it has a very fun slide. BWV is also closer to MGM - so you could walk if you did not want to wait for the boat. (you can walk from BCV too, but it is quite a bit farther)

The pool at BWV is excellent! It has a great slide...so good that it even has a name (Keister Coaster). :) It's a large pool and lots of fun. And there is, of course, a quiet pool as well.

Other advantages? Well, the biggest one would be Community Hall next to the quiet pool. It's a great place with free games and such for DCV members....ping pong, air hockey, video games, etc. It's also the place to get your free movie rentals.

And of course, you're even closer to the Boardwalk at BWV (not that BCV is far), so you can take in all that atmosphere in a short walk from your room.

Good luck in your decision. :)
