What would you do?

I need some advice. We currently have reservations for a BWV studio 1/10 -1/14 with the last night paying cash (member discount). As I was playing around with points last night, I discovered that it is the same amount of points to stay at OKW for the 4 nights as it is to stay at BWV for 3 nights. This would save us from paying cash for the last night. I was so excited about this, but when I called MS this morning, OKW was not available the night of 1/12. I went on a wait list for the 4 nights and kept our current reservation. Should I have taken the available 3 nights at OKW and hoped for the wait list to come through for the night of the 12th? Our other thought is to keep the first 3 nights at BWV on points, then if OKW doesn't come through, then switch to All Stars for the last night at the discounted rate of $55 and cancel the cash night at BWV. Being right after Christmas, we are trying to avoid spending the extra $230 or so for a room. What do you think?

If we would switch to another resort, would Disney send our luggage over or do we have to do it ourselves?

GCM13...

if it were me, I'd waitlist the entire stay at OKW only. I hate moving during a vacation, especially a short one as you describe. I wouldn't make ressies at OKW without getting the entire thing...especially with the missing day smack in the middle of your vacation.

As for moving to ASR....well, that would certainly save you money. I can't blame you for that...but again, it's something we choose not to do ourselves.

And as long as you are moving from one WDW on-site resort to another, I believe the bell services will handle all the luggage for you.

One last note....if you decide to stay at ASR...is there a chance you could do that on the first day? I would really hate to go from DVC to ASR....much, much better the other way around. Plus January 10 is a Friday, so you'd save a lot more points that way!

Good luck with your trip planning!

Granny, Thanks for your advice. I totally agree with what you're saying about staying AS first then going to BWV. I could try that, but I'd need to see if the last night was available using points instead of cash. Also, the extra 10 points I would save by not staying on Fri. night would end up unused because they are borrowed and won't be able to be used before the end of our use year. My DH said I should have taken what I could get at OKW then kept the BWV night in the middle. We'd have just enough points for this scenario. This would cause us to move twice (Fri- OKW, Sat-OKW, Sun- BWV, Mon.-OKW) I said that's crazy and he wouldn't like it. He says he doesn't care since we wouldn't have to pay anything. I was really hoping OKW would be available for the whole stay! I don't want to get too crazy just to save some money!

Oh, you're working with banked points...that does make a difference. And I don't know what your use year month is, but if it's all banked points, and this is your only chance for a trip....then your options are a little limited.

If you don't mind packing twice in two days, the scenario your husband outlines could work. With that scenario, you could even pack just enough for the one day, and leave the rest of your luggage at bell services at OKW. It would make for less packing/unpacking at BWV.

Good luck...I certainly understand your desire to save the $230 (don't forget to add another $25 to that for tax!).
