My 2 sons (11 and 8) and I are spending 3 nights at the Beach Club before our cruise over Spring Break. Because we just went to Disney in September (and several other trips) we plan to spend this trip not going to any parks. Since we love the parks, we spend so little time elsewhere, but being Spring Break and very crowded, we decided to enjoy the resorts, downtown disney, etc. We are getting the dinning plan and I have planned and reserved dinner at our favorite non-park restaurants.

I really like the food court type places (like at the all-star resorts and in the parks). I don't think the counter service at BC will hold our interest, especially breakfast. Where would you go for breakfast and lunch if time you were not spending the day at the parks? We will have a car, so no place (except the parks) would be off-limits. I would like for one of the meals to use the counter service credit from the dining plan.

I really like the fresh salad made to order at the BC marketplace. Roaring Fork at the WL also makes them, and they have an apple vinegrette dressing that we both really like.

I haven't tried it, but would like to try Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory
at Port Orleans. I've read that their beignets are very good, and I like the selections on the menu.

It depends on how healthy you want to be :lmao:
One of my favorite places is the bakery on the Boardwalk.

For breakfast I would recommend SSR Artist Point, very good CS with lots of choices.
On the Boardwalk, try the bakery at BWV.

I haven't been to a lot of the resorts (only Pop and ASMo). I would not go to ASMo for any meals if I didn't have too! Now, we had a few good meals at Pop, but, nothing spectacular. Our favorite QS the entire trip was at Wolfgang Puck Express. (or whatever it is called.) The pizza I had was so wonderful!!!! We will definitely go back. I would use it as an opprotunity to resort hop and check out the different resorts.

Have fun! We are planning on doing the same thing in June after a cruise if we aren't able to bank the points on the resale contract we are in the process of buying. We are going on October, for a full fledge park trip, but, to not waste the points, we will go on a budget trip and just enjoy the atmosphere. I know that would be just as much fun!

For an awesome counter service, try the Wolfgang Puck express in Downtown Disney. The food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) is incredible! The menu includes such things as penne pasta, pot roast, Belgian waffles.... It is like eating at a table service restaurant, but only using a counter service. There are two locations, one in the market place and one in the West Side. We make it a point to eat there every trip. Try it, you won't be disapointed.

Have a great trip!

What part of Maryland, Mommy? I'm from Hyattsville, intersection of University Blvd. and Riggs Road, near Tick Tock. :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone! These are great suggestions! I never know Wolfgang Puck had breakfast (it looks very yummy) or the bakery at the boardwalk. The food court at Coronado Springs also looks very promising. I'm sure the kids will want to stay at Storm-A-Long, so the salad at BC looks like a great choice. Thanks again!! Anyone for Mara's at AKL?

Another option for breakfast in Downtown Disney is Earl of Sandwich. They have yummy breakfast sandwiches, and you get a nice DVC discount.

We are doing the exact same thing. We will be there for our spring break and since we will be back in Oct when the parks won't be as crowded we decided to have a relaxing trip this time! We are planning to use one of our counter meals at the Polynesian. They have tonga toast and dole whip! I have also heard good things about the cs at Gasparilla Grill at the GF. We will be at Disney Quest one day and they have a counter service inside there too.

One possibility for breakfast might be Olivia's at OKW.
They have a great sweet potato hash, and the best grits I've ever had.

The sandtrap too is good for lunch.

Columbia, Cee! Graduated from College Park, so I know the area very well!

My sister lives in Columbia! I used to live in Owen Brown on Hayshed Lane. Did you know they moved Ledos from the original location on Univ. Blvd. to College Park? It just seems WRONG.

Enjoy planning your vacation and keep "Fearin' the Turtle"! :thumbsup2

I second POR and POFQ!!

We had breakfast at Kona last trip and it was very good! We also stayed at BC and one day had breakfast at the restaurant at YC (Captain's Grille?). It was just ok. They have either made to order or buffet, which did have a lot of choices. For lunch, we really like the counter service at the Contemporary...most things are made fresh and the choices are very different from standard counter service.

Actually, my DD and I enjoyed the breakfast at BC marketplace...the croissants with eggs were awesome! They also have pastries and bagels if you are interested. But aside from that...Olivia's is great, Sassagoula at PO has awesome beignets! Have a great time!

I recommend Boma--nice beakfast Buffet. Family might like to see animals on savanna.

Thank you, all, for your great ideas! I printed out all the menus from the suggested places and am going to let the kids decide. I am very excited to explore all the different resorts!
One question - let say we were going to Port Orleans or Carribbean beach for breakfast or lunch - will that be ok with the guard? Can I just say we are eating breakfast or lunch at the food court even though we obviously won't have reservations?
