We would like to add on at AKV which is currently at $112 per point. We were planning on waiting until our DVC member cruise this September. I have always heard that the incentives on the cruises are really good. However, I have never been on DCL this will be our first time so I have no comparison on what the incentives are like on a cruise. The webcast (which I am scheduled for tonight) is offering $100 per point for 100 points and 97 per point for 125 points so that is $12 and $15 off per point respectively. I hear that the prices per point are supposed to increase to $120 per point starting July 1st :scared1: I also have to keep in mind that we have a Septemeber UY. If I buy now I know I will get 2009 points. If I wait for the cruise which is my 2010 UY would I still be able to negotitate getting 2009 points? I am wondering if by the time we go on the cruise in September, will the incentives be better (considering the upcoming price increase) than what they are right now? :confused3 Do I wait for the cruise or do I add on now? Thank you in advance for any help/advice exerience you can provide.

Terrie :)

If you are doing an add on and don't need the points right now, go resale as you'll get it for far less in price.

If you need those 2009 points - so you can bank them for a trip next year - go for it now.

Once you start your 2010 UY, those points will not be available to you any longer.

If you want to go direct vs. resale (which could save you money), I would buy now.

Since prices are scheduled to go up July 1st, start the process a few days before to lock in the current discount and then see what happens. You can delay things for a few weeks and will know if the incentives are better or not.

This way, you have the current deal, but give yourself time to see if once the price goes up (if it really does) if they incentives get better.

Last year, when we added on, we asked that they delay final payment for a month since we wanted to miss a deadline on our CC and they had no problem with that.

Good luck!

Yes, the prices are typically better on the cruises, but, if a price increase does go into effect, you would be getting an incentive based on the higher price, which would probably take you to where you are now. The webcast deal is pretty sweet -- I'd say buy now (or go resale if you can find a good contract, which would probably save you considerably more than buying direct either way). Happy add-on! :goodvibes

I notice you live in Florida- can you try to get to the member event they hold daily at BLT?- you have to call and ask for an appointment but I was there today and supposedly the deals they offered there are the same you get on the cruise.

Like others have said, if you insist on buying direct, do it now... At least I would... Get '09 points and $97 to $100 isnt bad for AKL direct.

JMHO

100 points at animal kingdom current going rate is about 80$ PP plus closing costs (about 400ish dollars probably). incase your cerious.

Last Nov the deal on our cruise was no different then what they were offering at WDW.

Thank you everyone for the advice! I think we may begin looking resale for unstripped contracts since we don't actually need the points right away.

I wholeheartedly agree with ChiSoxKeith! Who knows what the incentives will be, if any, when you cruise.
