I'm after a bit of advice from people who have satyed at moderates before.

I'm going to WDW next August and had decided to stay on-site for the forst time and to get the free dining am going for a moderate.

After some research felt POFQ would be best. I just went to book it and they only have water view romms left for £127 more for 2 weeks. From what I can tell the more expesnive rooms give minimal benefit.

So,do I:

- just paying the extra and stick with POFQ

or

-go to POR or CBR for £127 less

Is it worth £127 more to stay at POFQ?

What would you do?

i would go to POR and save the money....
water view at the moderates isn't very meaningful in my opinion...your window overlooks the walkway leading to your door (the room doors open to the outside not to an internal hallway)...
so we tend to keep our curtain closed when we're in the room so that people walking by don't look in and see us in there....so what's the point of a water view?

wait a minute.....i'm coming back to edit my response.....now that i re-read what i've written, i don't know if this is also true for POFQ.....do the doors at POFQ also open to the outside?....does anyone know?.....i just assumed that they do because the other moderates do....but maybe they don't....

i should add that we've never stayed at the POFQ, though i've heard it's very nice...we've stayed at POR 3 times and enjoyed it each time....however, we were always in building number 14, the closest building to the main building/food court...which probably makes a difference to the experience there....

a lot of people love POFQ because it's much smaller than POR....so maybe that's worth the extra money....

We loved the POFQ. Its a lot smaller than POR and quiet. We stayed in building 4 which overlooked some beautiful gardens.
The walk to POR took about 5mins in total along the river.Everything here is much bigger and more spread out.
The doors do open to the outside.

I would not pay extra for a waterview at a Mod (as Beth says it's no really that much of a bonus at a Mod because of the room setup).

However if you have set your heart on POFQ I would say £127 for a fortnight would be a fair price to pay.

We preferred CBR to POFQ but we are in a minority!

We have stayed at POR and loved it. Personally I owuld not pay for a water view at either POR not POFQ as we spent very little time in the hotel room. When we booked we asked for a room not over looking a parking lot.

It really is a tough one. I agree that the price of a water view room in itself isn't worth the extra money it's just is £127 worth staying in POFQ against POR & CBR. I've spent the last couple of hours looking at reviews of POR and CBR and they aren't quite mixed. So I'm even more stuck.

I'm edging towards a standard room at POR but the buses seem to be a nightmare judging by most posts.

The other thing is the size of POR & CBR. Everyone says they are big, but how big is big as I've never stayed on-site before? Are there any details anywhere on any sites that tell you walking distances or times to food courts, bus stops, etc from the various buildings?

We've booked POR for free dining next August. Stayed there in 2 yrs ago during free dining (USA) and loved it, it's beautiful.
Thought about CBR but the main pool is closed next summer and thought quiet pools may not be as much fun for the kids.
POFQ is lovely, we visited it last time but more facilities at POR and you'll still get to benefit from boat to downtown disney which is great
Good Luck deciding!

ok how about i make the decision for you :)
you should stay at POFQ and pay the extra £127 ....
everyone i know who's stayed there say the compactness makes it very pleasant...
of course, as i said, for us, staying in building 14 in the alligator bayou section of POR was excellent -right near the food court and the bus.....but i'm sure i would have hated it had i been in the far reaches of the resort.....big is really big at POR....really really big....

so i've made the decision for you and you are welcome to blame me if it doesn't work out.. ;)

but again, we've never stayed there....only at POR (among the moderates) and loved it all three times....we rented bikes each time and rode over to POFQ...it looked really nice...

I wouldn't pay extra for anything - at the end of the day, you'll probably only sleep in your room and who cares what the view is like when your eyes are tight shut!!!!

We loved POFQ - it is more compact than other resorts and the bus picks up first at POFQ so if it fills up totally at POFQ it doesn't bother going on to POR which is probably why the buses are less reliable at POR as I guess the driver would need to radio for another bus to collect from POR. The pool is very nice. You won't gain much from a water view - I think you will face either the pool or the river but the rooms don't have balconies or anything. At the end of the day it's which resort you would prefer to stay at. We have also stayed at CBR for a few days and we did like the resort but it is very large. If the total difference is £127 then I'd be tempted to pay that to stay at POFQ although you might prefer to save those pennies for extra souvenirs etc.

difficult decision, i loved pofq but like others said theres no advantage for a 'water view' i think i'd save the difference, stay at por and request a room close to one of the bus stops or food court

Thanks for everyone's advice.

I didn't realise about the CBR pool and as I'm travelling with 2 teenagers I ruled that one out.

In the end I decided to save the £127 and booked POR and did what carolfoy said and made a request for a room near the food court or bus stops.

In my mind there wasn't much to choose between the Moderates in the first place so it's not as if I'm saving money but staying in a much poorer resort.

Thanks again for all your advice it really helped me.
