We had booked a preferred room at CBR because we want to be close to the main area since I will be with my 14 year old son and 66 year old mother but the new discount isnt available for the preferred room. Should we downgrade to standard and save about $350.00 and risk being out in the boonies of Barbados or Trinidad South or stick with the preferred and pay rack rate??
I am worried about all the extra walking in the August heat........
I know we can request Aruba or Jamaica, but I'm worried that I wont get it.

Me, personally, would save the extra money. The CBR is a large resort but a walk around the ENTIRE promenade that connects the villages is just over a mile. All of the walkways are nice, wide and easy to walk on.

We've stayed at the CBR twice. Once, we were assigned to Jamaica and this past trip, they upgraded us to a preferred location in Martinique. It took us the same amount of time to walk to Old Port Royale from our preferred Martinique building as it did from our Jamaica building.

I think if I were you, I would save the money and give them your preferences. Tell them that you will have a senior citizen in your party and you'll probably have a good shot at getting your desired location.

It is going to make a big difference as to what time you check in. We have stayed at CBR four times, only once preferred room, and have gotten rooms close to the Port Royale all four times. However, we pre-check before heading to the park and let our preference be known (in a very nice way.) As the previous poster said, emphasize that you have a senior citizen that needs to be as close as possible.
