Here is my situation..Leaving in the morning for Myrtle Beach and was hoping to leave around 5 or 6 am...DH was just outside and realized that while we are on our trip that our camper tag will expire (at the end of June, never got a renewal slip in the mail:confused: )..we are coming back home on July 2nd. Would you take your chances and just go on or would you wait for the courthouse to open at 9am and get a late start? I was hoping to get there and get all set up and be able to do something fun. If we wait it will be right at dark or after before we get there and then have to set up as well. :confused3

check and see if you can renew online, that way the registration would be current just missing the sticker on the plate, If you were to get pulled over it be easier to explain if the tag was just missing the sticker.

no tag renewal online..UGHHHH!!!!! This day and age why don't they have everything available online?

Oh well I guess I will be a good person and just go to the blame courthouse in the morning. It is my fault for not noticing earlier!!

I agree with Dis Camper. I would see if it can be renewed on-line. It will then be in the system as a current tag and you will probably get some sort of email confirmation to print a take with you. If they do not have a way to renew on-line, then I would delay my trip a couple of hours and get the tag renewed. Because if you don't, it will be on your mind the whole trip, adding stress (a vacation is something to get away from stress not take it with you) and you will be paranoid everytime you see a police, state trooper or sheriff. I think the extra delay would be worth the peace of mind. Besides think of the extra expense to your trip a $150 (or more) ticket would cause. That money could go for something a little more fun than that.

Here in Florida you get a 10 day grace period. I personally wouldn't worry about it. You're going to lose a lot of time going by the courthouse.

I actually forgot to put the sticker on my trailer, drove around with it that way for about 6 monthes before i realized it:eek:

I am surprised you can't renew online, it's 2007 for goodness sakes, everything is done online or so I thought.

I think you might be able to get a temporary renewal by phone if you call from Florida and explain what happened. Not sure of that, however. I'd take my chances, but that's just me.

Well dh said if we were camping locally he wouldn't care really because he is a firefighter and we know a lot of the police officers here, but we will be traveling in TN< GA< and SC so he is afraid that we will get the *** out of all of them and they will slap us with a ticket. I am going to complain about not being able to renew online that is just crazy!!

Oh well I guess I will just suck it up and hope we can get there before dark. The Yukon is full of gas and everything is packed so all we have to do is get showered , dressed and go. We are going to take the camper into town with us so we don't have to make 2 trips and waste gas. Next thing will be finding a parking spot..LOL

My next door neighbor tried that a few years ago and was told(not so nicely either) that TN mails notices as a courtesy and it is still your responsiblity to renew your tag even if you don't get a notice:confused3 . By the way his tag was 3 years out of date and the fine plus renewal ended up being less than if he had renewed every year.

I would say just go for it and take care of it when you get home, unless you do something to get their attention most officers won't bother with a tag just a few days out of date.

Think you would be ok, you would really need to P O the cop to get a ticket. In SC trailers are not even registered, not sure about Travel Trailers, so I doubt SC would even blink an eye. Most cops would probably be undersatnding I think.

I wouldn't worry about it either. In Fl we do have a 10 day grace period and if a GA or FL cop pulls you over they will assume the same for TN. My dh is a cop and they don't know the other states rules unless they have worked in that state as a cop. they would worry more about your car being updated vs. your trailer. If anything you will have your registration for your trailer and it will show it's updated (meaning last yr.) vs. 3 yrs. since a renewal.
Go forth and enjoy your trip!

Can you have someone else go in for it and then just FedEx the tag to your destination?

I wouldn't be concerned- have fun in Myrtle beach- I just got back last week. Terrible sunburn on my feet- ouch! Put on the sunblock and then slipped on my flip flops. DUH!

My daughter got a second degree sunburn with blisters on her shoulders- she had a reaction to the sunblock! Where ever she used the most block, she got really burned. :guilty:

Ok I am back!!!! We ended up getting the stupid tag renewed because we have the worst luck in the world..I did find out that TN DOES NOT have a grace period on their tags though. STUPID!!!

We had a great time on our trip...but around Florence, SC we stopped for gas and noticed the car running kinda rough. DH thought maybe we got a bad tank of gas so we went on. Got to the campground and it is running worse, so he checks the transmission fluid and it is low so his dad goes to get us more...it seems to run ok now...Well the next day DH and his father go to play golf. While MIL, myself and the girls head up to Broadway at the Beach for the day. On our way back to the campground everytime I accelerate the car makes this AWFUL grinding sound. I panic and think my "baby" is about to die. Ok so DH gets back to the campground and he and his father decide that my compressor in my air conditioner is bad and it is causing the car to idle rough...Next morning the car goes to the nearest GMC dealership and within 8 hours my car is fixed with a new compressor..$873.25 later... I could have gotten it fixed at home and just rode home with no air, but then I would have had 2 very crabby children in 90 degree weather for 9 hours..NO THANKS!!!!

Lakewood was a decent campground, we had a shaded spot site 1521. I never visited the bath house, but DH informed me that they were not clean at all. I did laundry once and they were pretty quick..15 minutes to wash and about 20 minutes to dry. Walked in the little store once and it was pretty good size and looked to have lots of stuff. In the pamphlet given to me at check in there was a list of do's and don'ts and every DON'T listed I saw broken (so I should have brought my dalmation with me..lol) :rolleyes1 I was almost mowed down by golf carts on several occasions. The amount of carts there was just crazy!!! Not to mention all the young kids driving them.

We didn't go to any of the activities inside the CG because having lived there before we knew of all the cool spots and visited with friends most of the week, but they had something going on every single night. :goodvibes

That is all I can think of right now about the place..OH....myself and my girls are all tanned, but DH is as red as a lobster even after several coats of SPF50...

OHHHHH and if anyone is going there soon...you MUST MUST MUST go to Murrell's Inlet and eat at BOVINE'S..the steak is AWESOME!!! $28.95 and worth every penny!!!!
