what would you do with your DVC if you had to move to Orlando??

Great question. I saw this and read the question and my husband said "why would you get rid of it?" :goodvibes I haven't read this thread yet (but I will) but we would NOT get rid of ours at all. NO way no how!!! I would LOVE To be that close.....it would be great to use it for long weekends something we can't really do now. Plus if I lived that close I would probably start planning other "non WDW" trips with my points too. Right now I can't get enough of WDW so those trips are still way back on the backkkkkkk backkkkkkkkkkk burner. If we lived closer and could go more often.....we would probably branch out and see other places sooner.

We are planning to purchase a condo in Celebration or Reunion in the next year. We plan to use our points on the weekends to stay at a resort and play in the pool and we'll take a drive to Vero. May even bank them and use them on DCL. I'm not using them for the relatives, they will need to find their own accomodations. My points is my points!

I think DH & I may purchase a condo in Celebration when I retire (11 years away :sad1:). I have relatives who have lived there for years. If any of them ever decide to move, we're going to buy their home.

And I feel the same way about my points....they won't be for the relatives!

I'd keep it and go to VB for long weekends. Its soooo nice there. Its sooo relaxing and a great get away.

I would also use it to stay for special occasions such as New Years or your anniversary or birthdays. You wouldn't have to go to the parks unless you really wanted to, but how cool would New Years be at the BLT (is you can get in) or your anniversary at the BW or BCV or if you have kids, a night at the AKL. My parents used to take us out to eat for our birthdays, you can use your DVC to treat each member of your family to a special night at their favorite resort. (now I'm really jealous!)

Good luck with your move.

I live about 20 minutes from WDW, but when I vacation there, I still feel like I'm far from home. The ironic thing is, the closer I moved to Disney, the more on property vacations I spent there. When I lived in Ohio, I might visit once or twice a year. When I moved to the Tampa area, I visited three or four times per year. Now that I live in Orlando, I usually take at least three 10 day trips, and probably four or five weekend trips, and it's still not enough. It's just so convenient to have one of the world's greatest vacation destinations right in your neighborhood!

I would keep it!

I would try to keep wdw as a vacation spot. Obviously I would use it differently but if I wanted to go to wdw I would make a weekend trip out of it of a half week trip a few times a year. Esp if I wanted to go to a nice dinner or something and did not want to drive home. I would also trade out more most likely although that is not the most optimal use.

I live in Celebration and WISH I had more points. We use them at Vero whenever we can get away and at any of the local resorts for birthdays and other celebrations. Our DD just got married on the Boardwalk this past December. In order to get married on Disney Property you must be staying at a Disney Resort for at least four days, so we used points for that for that. We use it much more now that we live here than when we didn't!

I would still use it to stay at the DVC resorts, especially BCV. But I would use some of my points outside of Florida, ie. Disneyland or HH or Adventures by Disney. I guess this would give me the option to use of for other places than Disney. Since now, I only want to use if for the DVC resorts.:):goodvibes

We will be almost-neighbors! Actually I grew up near UCF and visit my parents frequently during the year. Great suggestion someone made about Vero, it is gorgeous there. We're going down in July to stay w/my dad and are actually using our points for a few nights at AKL, WL, and Beach Club over three weeks, a night here and there...not going to the parks but playing at the resorts, that's a lot of fun!
