What would you do with a day to yourself at WDW?

We are planning to do a last minute trip to WDW next month and as it is shaping up it looks lik I will be alone for the better part of a day while DH and DD do some things that I'm just not interested in doing. So my question to all of you is what would you do if you had a day to yourself? This is new territory four me as we usually do most activities together on our vacations.

I am real familiar with WDW as I have been several times and while I love the rides I don't think I would want to just tour a single park for the day.

If it helps here is a little info:
1. We are staying at Art of Animation and will have plenty of time to explore the resort before my solo day.
2. We have deluxe dining and will have a signature dinner planned but no other meals on that day
3. I'm not into waterparks
4. And the most important thing, DH says:banana: it is my day and Money is no object:banana::banana:

Ok so if you were me what would you do? I'm open to about anything!!!!

:lmao:

Very funny you should ask. I have asked myself this very thing as of late...as I may be planning a solo trip soon
(Don't tell ... no one knows!)

I had ONE Free day planned our last visit 5/25 - 6/2... and I ended up ALONE around 6pm...

I never felt so free in my LIFE ! (well maybe an exaggeration)

But the thought occurred to me that if I had a SOLO visit to WDW...

I would spend the day doing EVERY attraction that I normally SKIP.

Our touring plans take us on the predictable journey through each park. But, particularly with MK I am missing out on many attractions that I enjoyed as a child.... Tiki Birds, Country Bears, Hall of Presidents, Wedway Ppl mover (are any of those closed?)

And with EPCOT... I am missing out on a lot as well. so THAT is what I would do... not sure if that was what you were looking for.

Have a magical visit !

The best part of a day just for me would be deciding at the time. Maybe sleep in. Maybe spend the day at the pool.

But to me, the beauty is doing whatever I want, as the spirit moves me...so I wouldn't plan it.

I would love a day at the park by myself. I could go on all the rides that my guys all hate. I had a mini experience last week when we were there. MK was open until 2:00AM. We had gone to dinner at Kona and DH and DS17 had eaten so much that they were stuffed. They went back to the room around 9:00PM. DS21 and I went to MK and rode a few things and then he decided to go back to the room. I decided to stay and went on everything in Fantasyland. None of them want to step foot in Fantasyland. I really enjoyed myself. It felt a little weird when I got up to the end of the line and the CM asked how many. BUT I rode in comfort with a whole seat to myself. It was great. I would love to do a whole day by myself. That way I could hit the gift shops without the guys complaining about shopping.

Oooooh... If money's no problem and I get to do whatever I want.

1) Stay in the room inside Cindy's castle for the night.
2) Keys To The Kingdom Tour.
3) Have Big Thunder to myself and not have to get off to let another rider on. I would love to go on it a few times back to back.
4) Check out all of the stuff I normally pass by (Paddle Wheel boat, Swiss Family... etc)
5) Spend more than an hour riding the boats in the lagoon WITHOUT getting sunburnt. (I burn easily, even with sunblock ;)) :beach:
6) Spend a night at each one of the resorts on the monorail beam.

When do I start? I'm in Miami, I can leave right now! ;)

Had the same opportunity one time when DH had meetings to attend at one of the resorts and I did what I'd do any other time -- my favorites!! However, I didn't know far enough ahead to be able to schedule the Keys to the Kingdom tour. That would have been ideal and I still could have done my favorites.
Had no problem at all riding alone or dining alone, since I was familiar with the parks. Decided on Magic Kingdom because there are things I love to do more than once in a trip. :-)
Have a blast, whatever you do. The choices are endless! :goodvibes

If I had time to myself, I would definitely take a lap around the World Showcase. We've never been able to catch many of the performances in the countries, due to time - so that's something I would be very interested in experiencing.

Ok this is too funny:rotfl2: maybe my husband exaggerated a little when he said money was no object. He might kill me if I did all that.

I do like the idea of boating without sunburn as I burn with sunscreen too:confused3

I actually have this planned for the day after my "solo" day while DH and DD do the seas aqua tour. I can't wait:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I would go to the World Showcase. My wife always just wants to walk through in a couple of hours. She just is not a big fan of Epcot.

We are going in early October and I hope I can catch at least a half day to spend there by myself.

I would get a Babycakes doughnut from the CS at AoA for breakfast. :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

Then I would take the bus to DHS and ride ToT. Twice. Then I would take the boat to Epcot and ride Soarin', LwtL and SE. Then I would take the monorail to the MK and ride PotC, JC, Splash, BTMRR, HM, and the TTA, grabbing a quick lunch in there somewhere (packed maybe?). Then I would monorail back to Epcot and go do World Showcase.

None of those are closed. Country Bears is going to have a 2 month refurb soon.

To answer the OP, hmmmm that sounds heavenly. What would I do?

1. Go to MK with my camera. Take pics of neat things and details. Enjoy Main Street. I always feel so rushed (esp. from a DH who hates shopping.)

2. I love the idea of a special tour.

3. Boating around Poly/GF/MK/CR would be fun!

Now I want a free day!! (said in Veruka Salt's manner!)

If it were me, I would ride all of the thrill rides. I've got small kids who are too young for them, so I'm missing out on them for the next few years.

This would be my choice too. My DH and boys usually zip through the World Showcase kind of bored. I would love to have a day to explore and take in all the unique sights and experiences here with no one rushing me.

something i recently learned. being by yourself isnt all that bad. Our last trip, day at the animal kingdom, my friend and I split she went back to Pop I stayed at the park. I rode all my favs, EE (over and over - single rider) safari, dino, tough to be a bug. and the whole time, I smiled and laughed and forgot I was alone. it wasnt even an issue. I liked it :)

I went along with DH once when he had a conference in Orlando. I ended up having a couple of days to myself until evening when we would go out to eat. One I spent hitting the big rides at MK and just browsing the shops in MK and the monorail resorts. On my other day, I went over to Epcot and spent time in World Showcase and wandered over to the Boardwalk later on. It was relaxing!

I would LOVE to do the Keys to the Kingdom Tour :hyper:. It's something that crosses my mind at least once a visit. I usually have part of a day to myself midweek while DH is golfing. But alas, it is usually spent by sleeping in and then doing a couple of loads of laundry :laundy: (while relaxing by a quiet pool) :beach:. And that's not such a bad thing either (the relaxing, not the laundry:upsidedow).

I would do the spa and the Keys to the Kingdom tour. I would eat an entire sundae from the MK ice cream shop. With any time left, I would hop to each of the parks and ride my favorite things. Enjoy!
