What would you do if you were not sure when you would be back?

I recently found out I have to have a major surgery in February which may prevent me from going back to WDW or cruising again for quite some time. We have a cruise on the Fantasy scheduled and added some extra days in WDW in order to try and do all our "don't miss attractions" and to help me relax (mentally at least lol) before the surgery. We will now be at AKL 1/25, cruise 1/26-2/2, BWV 2/2-2/4 and back at AKL 2/4-2/7. We are DVC members and have been to WDW several times (only our 3rd cruise though). What would be on everyone's "don't miss" list if you knew you might not be back for awhile for both WDW and the cruise? Any ideas for things to do that are really relaxing but won't break the bank? (unfortunately I'm not the spa/massage of gal lol)

Wow, I thought I had an answer but, with your dates and resort stays I will have to ponder this...

I would concentrate on soaking up the atmosphere. Go and visit the new Fantsyland. If you like photography then go and take some photos of your favourite places in WDW. Why not write a trip report, that will extend your vacation untill after you get back.

But my main advise would be fill up with what you love the best at Disney.

If I knew I wasn't going back for awhile, I would have Dole Whip for sure and a banana bread pudding at the Main St. Bakery! I would also have to ride Peter Pan's Flight at least once (my favorite attraction). Most importantly, I would take that one moment, as you enter Main Street after walking under the train bridge, and really soak in how you feel - the sights, smells and sounds (my kids always say "uh oh, here come the waterworks from mom again!") I always do that right as we enter and on the last day as we leave the Magic Kingdom so that the snapshot is always in my memory. It truly gets me through when I am feeling sad about being back home and need to go to my "happy place".

If I knew I wouldn't be back for a long time I would...
- watch the Magic Kingdom opening at least once. It makes me cry every time
- get as many Photopass pictures as possible
- spend a bit more time floating in the pool
- savor those Dole Whips and Mickey bars :)
