Ok, We are planning a big 16 day trip next January and found a free week this January and decided to do a little scouting trip :) We are regular at DLR but this our first trip since my DH and I were kids..
So we have looked at so many options.. first question
1. which is the best downtown disney hotel of the seven?
2. Would you stay at one over Saratoga springs villa studio
3. is the AKV with savahnna view better choice than SSV for a $300 price difference over the course of the week.

I know it's a lot to answer I hope some of you don't mind :) I am just swirling with the hotel choices!! LOL thanks for any help!

BTW we have a one year old and a 6 year old.. turning 7 while we are there!! how fun!

There is a discount code out for packages in January.

If you are planning to get a package, I would call and price one with the discount codes.

Or price it through their web site with the discount (web site adds insurance automatically, but if you call and book, you can say "no insurance").

And there is a separate message board for non-Disney resorts and hotels, so you might find more answers there about the Downtown Disney hotels.

Have a great trip!

Thanks for the reply! I just noticed the hotel thread *blush* LOL I think I will try posting there too.. your links are sure to be helpful in this big world of choices!!

You might also want to check out the Swan or Dolphin. They have some great discounts for teachers, nurses and Government employees(city, state or US) so look into those if any apply. They have a great location in the Epcot resort area for a bout half the price of the Disney owned Epcot area resorts if you can get one of the discounts.

The DTD hotels don't have privileges like the Good Neighbor hotels have at DL. The Hilton is the only one that has Extra Magic Hours privileges. No free parking at the theme parks, limited transportation from the DTD hotels.
The number of AKVs available is limited right now because the AKV aren't completed yet. They get pretty filled up with members, but it might be possible for a non-member to get one through CRO. SSR is a pretty large resort, condo style and not hotel style. The studio would have one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa.
